Martinez is not that big of a guy.

He is a true Junior Middleweight and has never had a fight above 159 lbs. I think its totally fair for him to call out the WBC JMW champ, Manny Pacquiao.

Certainly, we don't want to diminish those two strong opponents by Martinez, but we have to manage expectations. Extrapolating this two victories to say Martinez now has the number on Mayweather and Pacquiao . . is under-estimating these two greats who have been in countless wars and in the face of adversity have shown what made them the best in their generation. Again, too early to over-state Martinez . . i believe he wants to get his payday. He only got paid $1m fighting Williams vs Margarito who fought Pacquiao and may potentially earn $5m - $6m (based on the added compensation from Pay-per-view buys) . . that is what Martinez and his promoters are chasing, big returns! (i.e. he better be sure what he is wishing for . . he may just get it and it may bite on his face big time e.g. like a KO from either the money man or pacmonster).

Dude has been fighting for over 10 years, has almost 50 fights, 98% win ratio, belts in 2 divisions, did not catch a break until 2008- these other guys have been on HBO for as long as Martinez has been a pro. He ain't a rookie, he is like an undrafted free agent or a 6th rd pick breakout in the NFL...a Tom Brady of sorts. Stopped Williams, almost stopped Pavlik, stopped Bunema, technically stopped Cintron. There is no need to extrapolate anything here, the empirical data is in place, dude is one of the best out there.

Starting to lose a bit of respect for Martinez. First he says it would be a mismatch, he wouldn't entertain the thought. Now, he is being all ****y and wanting the fight. Move on, you aren't getting Pac or Floyd, just like Williams wasn't getting a fight with either of those guys. Just accept that the two biggest names aren't in the same size range as you and go fight guys your own size. There are guys at 160 and I'm sure a guy from 168 would be interested in fighting the middleweight champion of the world.

It's obvious you started watching boxing last week.

You mean to tell me that you haven't at least seen Sergio's last three fights?

come on guy....you're talking like you blame the guy for wanting the biggest fight and payday of his career.

it's not like he's changing his tune, and saying it'll be a close competitive fight or anything. he said before, pacquiao was too small and it'd be a mismatch....he just reiterated that he'd knock him out, it'll be "total destruction."

if you're losing respect for him b/c of this, you need to change you perspective on things. what do you want him to do? turn down a multi-million dollar fight if it's offered?

It's simply not plausible. Arum and Roach can talk all they want....they will never let Pac get in the ring with MArtinez.

Yeah, I lost all respect for Margarito when he opened his mouth about fighting Pac. Margo should have picked on somebody his own size. You tard.

what's wrong with Sergio now? he wants to be a P4P king but not tryng to make a fight guys bigger than him. and this talking about total distruction is bullsht. if Sergio would only agree to a 150 lbs then we can see the fight and see who destruct who. let see AndreWard fighting Manny so he can be P4P King.

Sergio's win against PW was not a beat down or a destruction. PW got caught with Sergio's best shot at the right time. Sergio is talking *****.
