According to promoter Lou DiBella, a middleweight unification between Sergio Martinez and Dmitry Pirog won't happen in the near future. After last Saturday's vicious two round knockout of Paul Williams, DiBella is trying to secure the biggest fights possible for Martinez. He doesn't view Pirog as a candidate who brings money to the table, or fans to the arena. But, if HBO puts the money on the table - the fight will happen.

I really hope Dibella is patient because they will get a Pacquiao fight. After Manny beats the **** outta Shane and the Mayweather fight falls through again....there really isn't anyone left for Manny.

Bradley is going to GB, which alone will kill his shot at Manny, and to top it off...GB is going to build up fights with him against Khan and Ortiz.

Berto is garbage and a waste of time...so that fight doesn't make any sense.

So unless Floyd vs Manny happens next fall....look for Martinez and Pacquiao at 154-155

To me the Pirog fight is the best fight for Martinez next.

I guess his mandatory Zbik is going to be next then... There is no way Floyd or Pac fights him next.

Margarito vs Cotto next summer will tie both of those guys up....and no way does HBO put up the money to have Angulo on there programming. I really don't know whats out there for Sergio but I really hope HBO puts up 2 million for Martinez vs Pirog (1.5 to Sergio and 500K to Pirog). I mean if they can give Berto 1.2-1.5 for facing bums...surely they can front the money for this fight.

sorry but martinez isn'g going to get pacquiao and he's not going to get floyd.

I don't know how much money HBO would put up for Pirog, but maybe if HBO is smart they will quickly get Pirog back on HBO, hopefully he looks impressive and maybe, just maybe, there will be enough interest for a martinez/pirog showdown for late 2011.

I'm a boxing fan and martinez vs pirog is about as interesting as it gets. I understand boxing is a business, but it's also about entertainment. That's a hell of a fight right there and I don't think a single person who knows boxing would complain about that match-up.

Further, could HBO secure 1.5 million for this? I'm sure martinez could get 1 million, pirog 500k. That's as much money martinez made for the williams fight. Is that really so bad?

Lou is doing the $mart thing....besides Manny, Sergio is the hottest fighter in the game atm (no ****...imo dudes be going too far with that ***y Sergio stuff)....you dont go Williams, Pavlik, Williams and then PIROG ....Floyd and Manny are the cash cows and its only right that Sergio and Lou is on a milk mission....milk this for all its worth Lou....you my fav promoter anyway

kudos to sergio for calling out pacman and floyd. this is the smart thing to do, strike while the iron is hot.
floyd is too busy now making a career of how to go jail. so i guess pacman's his priority now. i think sergios offer of 154 for both sww and mw titles is pretty fair.
a slugfest between #1 and #3 ranked best p4p fighters is a potential ppv blockbuster (other than floyd vs pacman which we all know will never happen)
