I see Hopkins vs Pascal ending like Taylor-Hopkins

Pascal seems to be a little better than Taylor though. But I don't know. If a 100% determined Hopkins shows up, this could be either a close fight like Hopkins-Taylor 1 & 2 or Hopkins may play dirty and win a UD. But I just don't see either of them dominating eachother. Only fighter who dominated Hopkins was a young Roy Jones but Pascal doesn't have half the defense Roy Jones had. He can get caught a lot, he's careless sometimes and lunges in a lot.

taylor was a hell of a counter puncher and boxer

pascal is more aggressive and will give bhop more openings and i dont see him landing much on the executioner

i can't make a proper predicteion tho, im too lazy to watch their last couple of fights

all in all yea, this might end like hop-taylor as in it's close, and most fights with bhop do end up close when he's fighting younger guys simply because he is outworked

You're underrating Hopkins defense though.

Hopkins is defensive fighter, who pot shots and likes to counter and uses rough house tactics. He's not slick though.

Dawson is a slick fighter with fast hands, good footwork, and decent power. Dawson is not defensive at all. Let's not confuse slickness with defense. Hopkins is not slick, he's defensive. Dawson is not defensive, he's slick. Only one active fighter has both of those and that's Floyd Mayweather.

I think Hopkins defensive style and dirty tactics will make this fight interesting.

Oh yeah and let's not underrate Taylor's power either. Let's not forget Pascal couldn't drop Froch and Taylor is still the only fighter to have dropped and hurt Froch as bad as he did. Let's not forget that Taylor has been the only fighter to drop and hurt Pavlik as bad as he did. Pavlik will never ever in his life get hurt that bad not even in 168, that says a lot about Taylor's power. Maybe Abrham has a chance to hurt Froch badly, but he doesn't, Taylor's power should get a little more respect.

I would agree with your assessment, in that Hopkins has his best chances late, provided he can handle the early pace of Pascal. But if Hopkins doesn't try to rough things up, doesn't try to stalk Pascal, then he is playing into Pascal's hands. I believe Pascal can be broken late.

hopkins is accurate, but he only lands one punch per round...his defense is good, but only if you are throwing one punch at a time at him...pascal should be in there throwing 3 and 4 punch combinations...looking to land on the 3rd and 4th shot...and definitely throw combinations to nard's body...thats how taylor and calzaghe beat him...

you are right on one part, hopkins didn't look good against a "SHY" RJJ, roy didn't want to engage in any trading and was avoiding FIGHTING Hopkins making it a lackluster fight, not until hopkins responded to the back of the head hit.

i think hopkins wanted the pascal fight is because he is like a roy jones in emulating RJJ's style, only pascal is willing to engage and stand and fight with hopkins, which is what hopkins as a fighter was looking for in the RJJ rematch so he can have a chance at countering him at every chance, and i think that is what he is looking to do in this fight with pascal.

i can see hopkins winning this fight, i can see him take pascal out of his game and break his confidence with a properly executed game plan from hopkins.


and as a hopkins fan, i hope he doesn't try and milk any kind of points taking away favoritism from the ref, with milking the low blows or rabbit punches, etc, it makes him look like he can't handle being in the ring, at least from the casual fan or the haters perspective, having been a hopkins fan and following his career, in those instances i didn't see a tired or hurt hopkins, i saw a hopkins trying to play the ref like a soccer player rolling on the ground holding his shin trying to get the ref to call foul, that is what i see with hopkins doing that mess. so i hope he realizes that he wont get a fair shake in canada so he might as well just get that part of his game plan out of his head and focus on stopping pascal, because in reality, that is his only chance unless we see hopkins school pascal like he did pavlik........

old man hopkins will try to use the slick african american style, but it will not impress the canadian judges or the canadian fight fans.

the fight won't go like hopkins/taylor at all. it will look like hopkins/rjj II. hopkins will move and move and do very little. when hopkins gets hit in the back of the head or on the belt, he'll fall down and act like he got really hurt. then he'll come back and flurry for a little bit, then go back to running, er I mean the slick innercity black style.

bhop needs to KO pascal to win in canada. that means bhop is gonna have to catch pascal jumping in.
