I don't think Earl Morton is a good refree.

He gets involved too much instead of letting the fight play it's course. I'm not saying that had any outcome on how the fight ended and I don't think it did either. But I want to make this thread to make a point that I think Morton is an annoying ref. I know that you have to be willing to break up clinches if they become excessive. But these guys were doing a good job of trying to keep one hand free to punch when it happened and you have to allow a little bit of inside fighting. This guy is just too officiating happy and is always wanting to get into the action. I want to watch a fight. Not the ref. Anybody else have a complaint about him?

I'll never forget how he yelled "stop punching" in the gatti-mayweather fight, and gatti stopped punching, and he let mayweather land a huge shot on Gatti.

Not that it would have changed anything, except maybe gatti would have lasted 20 more seconds, but still..

Dave Chappelle should stick to comedy.

No doubt, he was pawing and knocking gloves away before they could even actually clinch. As soon as it looked like Sergio's right hand was gonna get under Williams he was already stepping in. If this fight went any longer than it did I think we'd have a lot more threads about this topic, he really was killing any momentum the fight was gaining.

nah man I hate hitting in the clinch.

that hold-n-hit style is about as gay as mma ground-n-pound.

if you're gonna fight on the inside, you should do it like castillo and corrales... no ****in clinching.

I don't really like it either but you should still give the guys a chance to fight out of it and he wasn't doing that. He was also standing way too close to the guys and it was just agitating to watch. He was like an obstacle in the way to me.

i dont think a ref should reach in unless he is forcing a clean break

it totally throws off the fighter and in reality endangers the ref

the worst of it all was the 10 count while P-Will's soul was escaping through his eyes
