    15 rounds to 12 rounds

What scientific or medical studies were done to ensure and prove that 12 rounds were safer than 15 round bouts?

As it is, the rules were changed quite dramatically and quickly after a death in the boxing ring in the early 80s. Have deaths in the ring gone down because of that?

Is there proof that 12 rounders are any safer?

Im sure if marg took Pacs punches for 15 rounds it would have been more dangerous

The more rounds the more punchs you take

    Pretty simple it think

Sometimes, things that appear to be so simple, actually aren't. Theres tons more to it than just taking punches for more rounds. You'd have to consider the level of experience, the attributes of each fighter, style of fighter, etc. etc. Many more variables than just "taking punches for more rounds".

This in an interesting link with lots of data.

            So then,

lets reduce the amount of rounds from 12 to 6 to cut the amount of deaths in half!

            That should work because,

its a common sense problem right?

no its not. the decision to change from 15 to 12 was done because of the mancini kim fight. it was a knee jerk reaction & had no medical backing or research. the wbc decided to change it to 12 & the rest followed suit. fighters were fighting 15 rounders & longer for 50+ years. Its the same with the catchweight. there was no evidence of medical malfeasance nor research or study. it was started to prevent cancellation of title fights.

Obviously it's safer because it's 9 minutes less of taking punishment.

Do you have any evidence to suggest this, or are you merely guessing that to be true?
