Top Rank nabs Klitschko-Rahman purse bid!

    Just read it on *********.com

    By Robert Hoffman
Top Rank was the winner of today's WBC purse bid for the right to promote the world heavyweight title fight between champion Vitali Klitschko and interim champ Hasim Rahman. Top Rank submitted a bid of $12.1 million, Don King Productions bid $11 million, K2 Promotions bid $10.7 million and Bobby Hitz Promotions bid $6.7 million. The split will be 65/35 with Klitschko making $7.5 million and Rahman $4.6 million.

I cannot believe Rahman is getting $4.6 million for this fight. I also cannot believe Don King lost this purse bid, something strange is going on.

those figures would seem way too high for this fight, how the hell is Vitali getting 7.5 mil? and since Rahman is interim champ i thought he was entitled to 55-45 split?

I think that was the WBC ruling in case VK fights Rahman in his next fight, skipping his optional.

I guess Rahman got his wish. He said that Don King offered him 2.5 million and he didn't want to fight for that little so now he is getting 4.6 million. I wonder if he is going to complain, I dobut that he will cause this is a ton of money. Vitali is getting a good amount considering he is the heavyweight champ. I think Top Rank is trying to appeal to Klitshcko because he is self promoting right now I believe. Don King losing the bid is priceless.

I also think this is way too much money for this fight. But Vit seems to have quite the following nowadays.
I wonder if this fight can generate enough money to justifiy what Top Rank is going to pay these guys. Especially with Rahman's sleepwalk of a performance last weekend.
Will the gate and PPV cover this kind of payout?
Don King has always tried to keep a stranglehold on the heavyweight division because that's where the big money usually is.

PPV sales would have to be like 350,000 or better. I personally think more people would tune in to Wlad vs Peter. Especially hardcore boxing fans know that this is the better fight. However, thinking about it I want to see how Vitali is going to look in this fight. Hopefully he wont make too many mistakes, cause Rahman's hands are long and strong.

haha Arum laid down that much on this atrocious fight knowing Vitalis last fight lost a ton of money...Bad move on his part and shame on him....He would be making more if he would have paid 50k for JMM mandatory fight and thrown him on the undercard of Pac-Morales and made more that way to beef up the card...HAHAHA this is going to flop and flop hard....Know heavyweight is worth that much.

...After that stinker he laid in the Barret fight he is lucky to get what he is getting. Truth be known he probably deserves 10% of the purse.

...Oh **** man, it don't matter how long and strong Rahman is. He got clean shots on Monte ****ing Barret and didn't even dent him. Barret only threw about 20 punches and hurt the rock on at least two occasions. Vitali is gonna ****ing kill Rahman. This fight will be a joke. Rahman may rush him like he says, and he will get the Kirk Johnson treatment. Remember who called it first.

I think Brock vs Vitali would have been the better fight.
