VK Lovers/Haters Listen Up...Sanders Victory Is Underated!

Here at BS we have VK lovers and we have VK haters, we have kool aid drinkers who could see VK humping a kitten in an alley after getting KO'd by Frans Botha and they would still find a way to defend him.

On the otherside of the coin you have similiar kool aid drinkers who watch his war with Lennox Lewis and refuse to give him any credit what so ever for the loss, sure it was a loss but it was one helluva a performance by VK, sure his face let him down but he was as game as any HW in the division could have been against the champ...yet there are many who talk about this loss like he was iced in two rounds.

Now, I hear a lot of bad mouthing VK for his win over an out of shape Corrie Sanders? Yes Corrie was out of shape and did not intend to fight for 12 hard rounds but did that matter?

What did Corrie care about? Well, many experts in the division before the fight took place stated that Sanders had the heaviest hands in the division, if he landed the left hand any fighter in the division was going to be in trouble. Well Sanders decided to test that theory and sit back waiting on VK so he could counter with the left hand and counter he did, he scorched VK with the left many times and stunned him a few times.

Vk survived every big left hand, showed a very good beard as he did in the Lewis fight and showed unlike his little brother that there is no panic in him when he gets caught.

I can think of some other HW's who would not have taken Sanders's left hand half as well, can you? Sanders is an athlete as we all know and I dont give a **** who he fights chances are he will find a way to land the left, unfortunately for Corrie he fought a guy that could take the left and keep fighting...Sanders was not anticipating this.

So when people rag on VK for beating an out of shape Sanders I think they are being too negative. Corrie fought his fight, he landed his big left a number of times and he thought that was going to be enough just like it was enough against Wlad. How many southpaws are in this division? How many southpaws who are as athletic as Corrie and who punch as hard as he does exist in this division?

The win was not a great win but it certainly showed me a lot in terms of VK, he can take a punch, he knows how to recover, he is resourceful and patient etc.

He is not yet the king that many think he is but he is not the dog that many make him out to be either, the jury is still out but when watching him fight Corrie Sanders if you refrain from drinking the kool aid it is not hard to see some very positive signs from the big guy.

Now if we could only get him in the ring!

This is the major reason why there's so much hate for VK.

...Speaking of him being a great athlete. Did you know he had sprinters speed when he was younger. Supposedly he was a serious burner and had some major jets. Out of shape or not that guy was a beast and possibly the best athlete to ever fight in the heavies.

My problem with VK is he hasn't done anything to prove any greatness. He beat an old out of shape Corrie Sanders and two journeymen. Anytime he has stepped up he has lost. His biggest win was a loss to Lennox Lewis and he lost to Chris Byrd. Thats doesn't sound great to me, if he beats Rahman I will give him credit.

Rid**** Bowe is obviously the greatest athlete ever in the HW division. He's an 8 time champ in hot dog eating contest.

He won most of those competitions while he was an active HW. TOP THAT Vitali!

If he just walks near a boxing ring I'll praise him as the new jesus christ.

no one wants to fight vitali EXCEPT rahman, and hes going to lose. DKP does't let any fighters fight vitali because then hell lose one of his titles

The point of my thread was that any HW who fought Corrie Sanders was going to get their chin seriously checked by a southpaw who will crack anyone he is in with.

This was not an easy fight as some suggest and the out of shape Sanders would have given anyoine else in the divisin hell and VK handled him pretty easily based upon his ability to eat power shots.

Dont discredit this performance that is all Im saying.

Vitali hasn't proven "greatness". No one should say that. But it's reasonable to say he is the best heavy right now and that he is a "good" fighter. Kirk Johnson and Danny Williams weren't the best fighters around, but Kirk Johnson mentally collapsed and was a very talented guy (NOT a journeyman).

It is important to note that Vitali was smacking Byrd around until he threw his shoulder out. Truth, you do know that Vitali messed his shoulder up from beating on Chris Byrd, right? Ok then.

If you haven't given him credit yet for what he HAS done, how can you give him credit for beating RAHMAN? That makes no sense. An out of shape Corrie Sanders is more dangerous than whatever version of the current Rahman that Klitschko will face. Klitschko has a guaranteed win over Rahman so I guess you better affirm his greatness now.

Beating Rahman does not make you great.

However, when you beat guys the WAY Vitali has beaten them, and when half the time haters pick him to lose vs these guys (eg Sanders), then you should be considered good. Decent.

And that's good enough to be the best at heavyweight right now.
