Originally posted by Mr_Washington View PostI have to disagree with these rankings. Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander are by far the 2 best @ 140. I don't care how Devon looked against Kotelnik, there is a such thing as having a bad night. I guess people forget how bad he beat Juan Urango. Maidana is highly overrated and is going to get boxed into a coma by Amir Khan. Victor Ortiz was beating the **** out of his ass, we just found out that Ortiz didn't have the heart of a warrior that night after he took a good shot he quit fighting. Khan is talking trash but the truth is the 2 best fighters @ 140 are fighting each other and that is Bradley and Alexander. Also Alexander may win this fight, he knows he looked bad in his last fight he will be much better when he faces Bradley.
Also, how is Alexander 'by far' better than Khan and Maidana? Alexander is a good fighter and found an amazing shot to destroy Urango but let us not forget that was a 3-3 fight at the close and Urango was coming on very very strong. Sure, I give credit to Alexander for the very nice uppercut but he looked very vulnerable against Urango in the preceding rounds.
He was then outboxed by Kotelnik at least 8-4, probably wider in fact. It was one of the most horrendous robberies I have seen. I don't want to hear **** about how it was 'an off night'. You can't just pick and chose who you want to have 'an off night'... if you make those kind of incredibly biased defences of fighters your post looses all credibility.
The reason I have put Khan above Alexander is because he actually beat Kotelnik and Paulie well, although granted the acid text against Maidana can change his ranking.
Maidana is above Alexander because of the impressive destruction of Ortiz and Cayo and then good fights against Corley and in my eyes a very narrow win over Kotelnik (again, a very good performance). How was Maidana getting the **** beat out of his against Ortiz? I mean sure, he went down but was never truly hurt and the first time he got up look how he repsonded! Ortiz was stumbling around the ring like a drunk! The only person hurt in that fight was Ortiz. He got his arse beat during the mid rounds and quit - amazing performance by Maidana.
I think Bradley will take Alexander apart. He is far superior and really really impressed me against Peterson and slightly less against Abregu.

And I said Maidana should be above Ortiz. Just Barely. U look at who he beat, but let's also look at how he beat them. Maidana loses to Kotelnik, barely but he still loses, while Ortiz knocks out Mighty Mike in 2 rounds. Than he fight Ortiz and wins, but he gets his ass kicked in the process. But after that he fights twice, once against a (mere) prospect named Cayo, and the other against Corley. While Victor KO's a vet in Antonio Diaz and he completely schools/KO's a tough journeyman in Alatorre. Than he dominates Nate Campbell (it wasn't his fault Campbell was being a bytch), and he KO's Harris in 2 rounds. That's 5 dominant performances and 1 loss to1 okay performance, 1 ugly performance, 1 loss, and a lucky comeback... That's why I say barely. The truth is people overrate the heck out of Maidana. He's just a schooling waiting to happen. Even if he gets the lucky KO over Khan's weak chin, he's not gonna get it over skilled boxers with good chins like Alexander and Bradley.

Maidana holds better wins that Kotelnik and in my eyes deserved at least a draw in the fight.... it was fought in Germany after all.... Although granted Kotelnik's beating of Alexander was impressive.
