Would a prime Mayweather get hit like that against Mosley?

33 year old Mayweather vs 38 year old Mosley, both past their primes. Mosley got a couple of right hands in that seemed to have hurt Mayweather, or shook Mayweather.

All this talk about a prime Mosley would have taken Mayweather out. How about the other way around, a prime, more elusive but more offensive, faster, more footwork having, Mayweather?

Definitely not. Prime Mosley had trouble with DLH, Forrest and Wright because of their jabs, something Mayweather used to use a lot back in the day combined with all the attributes I mentioned.

Prime Mosley didn't duck a prime Mayweather twice for no reason. He only called him out when Mayweather started showing signs of slipping when Marquez caught him several times with some right hands.

No, prime Mayweather was too elusive, wouldn't have been caught like that

    Great thread Kev.

A prime Mayweather would've rolled that punch off his shoulder and came back with a counter.

Floyd getting hit had nothing to do with age. Floyd has a habit of throwing a lazy left hook with the elbow down, thumb up, and chin untucked. Mosley capitalized on that mistake by perfectly countering it. Good thing for Floyd that he talked to his uncle and father after the fight to fix the error.

You can't roll a punch that you don't see coming. Floyd didn't see that Mosley counter coming, and we all know the ones you don't see hurt the most.

All I read is what a prime Mosley would do like if Mayweather is this 25 year old prime fighter. Mayweather is 33, everyone agrees that he's still really good, but no longer in his prime. So I don't get what all this talk is about what prime Mosley would have done.

These guys don't understand that a younger Floyd wouldn't have had all the criticism and therefore not feel a need to prove anything. He wouldn't have even put himself in a situation to get caught like that.

                  No, he wouldn't.

But he'd still get rocked by a prime Mosley.

The only difference is Shane's shots would be even faster on a prime level, and he wasn't nearly as wide in his prime as he is now.

(That shot he buckled Floyd with was wide as hell.)

He'd be more crisp, and swift and likely rock him with something entirely different.

And that's no knock on Floyd - Shane's just got that kind of power.

Floyd would still win the fight, but it'd be much more closely fought and at a much higher intensity level.

This. Not to mention a prime Mayweather was more willing to trade, so I'm sure a guy with the handspeed and power of Mosley could have still rocked Floyd.
