    I don't think Jefferies was very much different from almost any white person of that era in terms of racism.

    If you are using todays standards for racism I can almost assure you he was, but for that period he might have been moderate.

              Jeffries was promoted and hailed as the Great White Hope to reclaim the Championship for the white race by the promoter and a large portion of the populace.


              It still doesn't justify your claims that he was a racist.
