I've been hearing that, in the past year or so, Fernandez's fighters' attempts to gain recognition in the world stage have been often thrown back. Who are the fighters he handles? Any chance of success in the future? How soon? Who is/are his world rated fighter/s? I heard of Mayol but the kid seems to be plagued with tough luck in world championship fights.
Edit: I wonder: Is it back luck or a flaw in style and/or method that can be rectified? Perhaps, Fernandez can take a closer look at Mayol's style?Last edited by grayfist; 08-18-2010, 10:27 PM.

as far as mayol he has faced tough luck. his style is a little rough, but i think he can come around with some fine tuning. it's not like he was out classed, but he been knocked before so he needs to quit bieng so wild. u can't blame dat on buboy man? besides this thread is about celebrating the man we know as buboy. so let's celebrate mr. fernandez. he needs time to develop as a trainer on his own, and i am sure he learned a lot from roach.
give him time. he has a few fighters now, but they suck balls and its because buboy is not established as a trainer on his own so he gets all the lame fighters and roach gets the all the filipino prospects.

My inquiries were straight up and do not contain anything that can reasonably be construed as an affront to Mr. Fernandez; the questions were not asked to dampen the gaiety of what you call a celebration of Mr. Fernandez. When I asked those questions, I hoped to get answers such as the names of his fighters, the best prospects among them, the chances of his fighters achieving what they set out to do in spite of recent set-backs, etc.
I never said Mayol was outclassed; I don't know where you got that idea that such is my opinion. I only said that Mayol appears to have a string of bad luck, then added that perhaps Fernandez, whom I have seen in Mayol's corner more than twice, may want to take a look at Mayol's style and method. It is no secret that in Mayol's half dozen fights, head clashes have been his bane--they have come much too frequently. The problem may be in the style, or something about how he does things atop the ring.
I am aware that Mayol is a southpaw and my minimal boxing knowledge also tells me that southpaws going up against orthodox fighters have their heads collide more frequently than opponents fighting off similar stances. But there are ways to minimize such things. My awareness that there are remedies made me suggest that perhaps Mr. Fernandez should take a look at Mayol's style.
I am not into blaming anybody. And if you read my previous post again, nothing in it suggests that I am blaming Mr. Fernandez. On the contrary, I look at Mr. Fernandez as the one who can help Mayol. My previous post was clear on that. I am totally confused as to why you think I blame Fernandez.
As for Freddie Roach getting the better fighters, did you not point out that Fernandez is still work in progress as far as being trainer is concerned? Given that, doesn't it stand to reason that Roach should get what he's getting and Mr. Fernandez is getting what he has?
I apologize if I encroached into your celebration. I thought that in as much as you know Mr. Fernandez, what he's doing and how he is doing as a trainer more than I ever would, I'd ask those questions here. I thought that you must know him well, after all, you are celebrating his life. It seemed to me that you'd have the answers.

honestly i don't know too much detail with specific fighters, just the general situation. i did mention that buboy is not established on his own yet so he gets all the no namers while roach gets the filipino prospects. but buboy has concepcion, who just got ko'ed by juanma, but he's the only man to knock down juanma. i gotta feeling about this kid and has lots of potential.
but as far as mayol, has no one to blame but himself. i know u weren't blaming buboy, but it seemed like u put some responsibilty on him in regards to improving mayol, which is fair, i just misinterpret that. and yes southpaws and orthodox fighters are likely to headbutt. but mayol also is reckless when he rushes in too much. i don't think he does it on purpose, but buboy can help him with the way rushes in and his head movement.
wish i can give u more detail on his training/managerial duties, but i am really just a fan and wanted to give buboy a tribute. it sounds a big joke to some people, but buboy is the man and everyone mentions arum and roach, but buboy is also important in pac's personal and professional life.
