We're talking about Cotto who is not a big welterweight.

    Again look at history.

Pernell Whitaker - came down in weight - beat chavez easily.
Hopkins - lost four pounds - beat oscar easy.
Arturo Gatti - lost 5 pounds - beat Ward 2/3 times (catweight of 142)
Hopkins - lost 4 pounds - beat Pavlik
Terry Norris - lost 4 pounds - beat Meldrick Taylor
paulie malignaggi - lost 1 pound & a half - beat Diaz II times

Again, VERY rarely has the guy going down in weight lost.

1 pound means alot when you already work your ass off to get to 146-147...if aint water weight or fat he had to lose that last 1 pound,,,

147, 146, 145 that fight wouldn't have made a difference because Cotto had no trainer.

If they fight again at any weight I expect Pacquiao to win on a UD because Pacquiao is just on a different level than Cotto, but Cotto will fight a smarter fight than he did for sure with Steward in his corner.

ok, im not talkin about any specific fighter. im sayin in general. 1 lb can be very difficult for a fighter to lose. i specifically said i wasnt tlkin about cotto. and btw pernell didnt win that fight(even tho he shld have).

and besides in all the fights u named, the better fighter won, imo.

So if he would make 144 then JMM would beat him with ease!
