During the 36th annual “Giants Award” dinner in Chicago, former WBC light heavyweight, IBF cruiserweight champion and now a top 5 ranked heavyweight Tomasz Adamek received a special, honorary belt from Muhammad Ali’s daughter Jamillah. “My father could not have picked a better candidate for this award,” said Jamillah.

Adamek, who arrived in Chicago from Jersey City, breaking his training camp before the Michael Grant fight at Prudential Center in Newark on August 21, was visibly touched by this special award.

“It has the name of “The Greatest” and everybody in the boxing world knows what it means,” said Adamek. “I will bring this belt into the ring before all of my future fights and proudly represent the Ali family.”

During the special ceremony, prepared by the Ed Kelly Sports Foundation, Adamek had a surprise for Ali family: a special, handmade leather highlander belt from the Zywiec region in Poland, where Adamek was born.

“My father will be very happy about this gift,” said Jamillah. “He does have a lot of belts – but not one like this.”
