That was all Ward. he did it in the Kess fight...Lots of fighters would look bad against Ruiz for his clinching style, its hard to fight against especially when you train for a boxing mathc and get cliched to death. I expect ward to do this the whole tourney since he is stepping up in class from his normal opposition...

He actually caught Kessler with alot of eye catching punches, despite the clinching.



Tonight he just never caught Green with anything from the outside.

I don't want to hate, I do like Ward's personality, but watching him inside the ring; not easy to enjoy . The man is great though, and part of the blame should go to Green for doing absolutely nothing. Green didn't come to win, he made no attempt at all. What actually sucks is that this dude is in the tournament, and as much as it would hurt me to say this, I'd rather have Taylor in it; despite all the knock outs he suffered.

I hope this guy never goes to ppv to steal people's money. Ward, Dirrell, & Floyd are the reason why boxing turned into a niche, trivial sport. Fighters who spoil fights because they are afraid to get hit.

Forget about the sport, the fans, the entertainment. Just as long as you win & get the paycheck no matter how ugly you do it is all that matters.


I hope james kirkland & paul williams improve & pick up the slack when pac & floyd retire because if its andre ward & andre dirrell then its back to the doldrums for boxing.

The "clinching" Ward was doing tonight on the inside is the equivalent of two MMA fighters on the floor, in missionary position throwing short punches on the side of the head for 3 out of the 5 minutes round.

They have their own problems too.


Don't even get me started when they're on their feet. Because in MMA, wrestling is allowed, the ref sometimes will not seperate them for long periods of time, even though they're dong nothing but holding each others arms, with one guy trapped against the cage.

I can see him getting a lot of hate because of the headbutts (I hate that too). But I see him winning this tournament. This guy has skills and he is an intelligent fighter. He is the kind of fighter that is a winner, maybe not an entertainer.
