Has McCall ever addressed the incident with details?

It was actually a tactic to draw Lewis in so McCall could knock him out, like the rope a dope.

...no Im serious, that was what he said.
        Doubt him?

Yeah I did hear this as well. I forgot to mention this in the original post. In fact I recall hearing that at some point McCall indicated to Mills Lane that this was his intention and that's why it went on for as long as it did.

            McCall's chin was unreal.

I think the main reason was McCall realized that Lewis was not gonna rush in this time and try and knock him out like peppy corria the trainer had told lewis to in the first fight ! ....when Lewis was on form very few fighters could touch him technically

Also I recall someone (I think it was Lamply) saying they held McCall's purse over this incident. I'm surprised this does not get talked about more because the whole thing was bizarre.

the whole incident looks a little funny.i really wouldnt be surprised if he was somehow influenced into throwing the fight.just looking at his corner you can tell something was up.

He was trying to get out of the closet but Lenox was beating him back in it?

all joking aside, Ive read interviews about McCall. He was constantly on drugs during his career, and pretty much never trained. His life was a mess.

He would have been a monster if he had actually focused on boxing. Such raw power and one of the best chins you will EVER see...a little raw and not very fast, but thats what happens when you live his kind of lifestyle...

I hope hes content with his life right now.
