I have just watched Williams-Liston I for the 20th time (LOL). It is a thing of beauty to watch Cleveland Williams double on his left hook. I never get tired of it. I remember Ray Leonard said while doing live commentary for Tyson-Tucker that it was very impressive that Tucker could double/triple on his left hook, because it is a hard thing to do as a heavyweight for obvious reasons. Tucker was 1,95m and around 225 lbs.
When he multiplies left hooks, 1,90 m and 212 lbs Williams looks like Roy Jones (a bit slower of course), and nobody that I know can double on the left hook like Jones at heavyweight. I don't know any heavyweight who can do it like Williams does, as fast and as powerful, as easy and as often. Ali ? I don't know. Patterson could do it. I noticed Williams has the same stance as Holyfield, but doesn't fight in a rythm and on his toes like Holy does.
Here is a video showcasing Williams throwing 5 left hooks (for God's ****ing sake) in a row. The hooks don't land, but it doesn't matter, that's not the point:
Here, he triples on his left hook and batters Liston:
I'm amazed by Williams. Do you know a heavyweight who could do that ?
