you only have to ask warren or brendan ingle how good this bloke was and how he just wasted it all..

    bit like Paul Gascoigne really..
Not quite as much of a betrayal of talent as Paul, and also for different reasons.

Paul is really ill and traumatized and always has been, certainly as an adult.

Naz just allowed fame to manifest in his head in the form of a dementia which ate at his focus and discipline.

You only have to see The Little Prince, The Big Fight to see what you're referring to in the bold, he doesn't appear to work on any of the things that made him great. Watch him just loading up on single power shots with poor form at the bag, taking long pauses between. Some half-assed conditioning work. The sparring, he looks awful, his timing is all out. Weeks later in the fight, he looked no sharper, which tells you something about how dedicated he was in that camp. Even then, he still takes a few rounds from Barrera and is never close to being stopped.

Against Barrera, Naz was just the worst prepared he'd ever been on the night he needed to be the best prepared he'd ever been. Anyone who thinks an on-point Hamed wouldn't have been a genuine threat to MAB is mistaken.

A waste, yeah, when you think what could have been, but he still accomplished a hell of a lot comparatively. Paul Gascoigne didn't even end his career with at least a league title winner's medal for all his vast talent.

Naseem Hamed is not an ATG fighter, but an ATG entertainer. He has a hell of a record, but he's not even top 100 in my book, if you have to have a list. He had all the potential in the world!

I miss Naz,boxing was a much better place for him being around. His fights were always huge events for me,my family and friends. We would have a party or bbq every time he fought. Its pathetic that he cops **** on here from people who were probably in first school or nappies when he was doing his thing.

He lost to a great fighter in Barrera,no doubt, but anyone who says a 100% on point Naz wouldnt have been a different proposition is talking out of their ass.

On a personal note I aint anymore, I see him as having thrown it all away, and he's now a fat fella who is a hit and run driver.... as a kid he was my hero until he felt the need to ram Islam down everyones throat, I remember him dedicating one of his fights to all the ******s around the world.... what about the non ******s who love you Naz? Religious background shouln't be important.

This is no way a slur on Islam but the more he seemed to drill it the less forcussed he became on boxing..... religion is a personal thing, it should be kept that way imo

Agree mate, on a boxing entertainment level it was a really big event at our place too, whenever he was on the box we'd be watching it... I remember begging the old man asking can we watch Naz on box office. Of course he let me, cos he wanted to watch him too. For a period of my life I idolised him. I even went to the barber and said cut my hair like Prince Naseem

As an entertainer he is right up there, I think a DVD is in order for xmas
