He said recently that he had hand injuries.

I think he simply just lost a lot of his desire to fight. He made plenty of money and I hadn't heard any stories about him spending too much of it, so there was apparently no financial necessities for him to continue fighting.

he had that ****ty showing in his last fight in england and showed no motivation for continuing, his training habits worsened and he didnt show any motivation, without the mind the body just a pile of fat, which is what he became.

              technically he still hasnt retired.

But yeah, hand injuries, lack of motivation, lack of belief after he lost to Barrera and realised that Allah wasnt going to do everything for him, and he invested his money in middle-eastern oil in the 90s, which menas he's probably a ****in billionaire by now lol.

He was going kinda crazy, getting religious (some say with the wrong crowd), driving accidents, family problems with the wife, bad hands....

A lot of things made him leave the fight game. You watch the Barrera entrance he tries to make that all religious and even religious folk were saying that was out of order. Also getting beat by Barrera just put him right in the dumpster and all the haters got to his head.

                So he quit.

Sad, he would've still being a factor at featherweight, he would've fought Morales or JMM and make some interesting fights there, or a move up in weight but no retire he wasn't shot or anything like it.
