I think the UFC fans are understanding this after what happened last weekend. The tactical fighters will always want to learn about their opponents in the ring. its what makes them great! It may look boring to some but it looks exciting to true fans.

What a funny thread. Have pure boxers EVER ruled boxing?

You've got me racking my brain. Maybe the 1910s? Benny Leonard, Jack Johnson, Jim Driscoll, Georges Carpentier, Johnny Dundee, Jack Britton, Jimmy Wilde, Johnny Kilbane, Abe Attell.

I can't really describe some of the above fighters' styles with any real authority because I'm just going on second hand accounts, but I believe they were all regarded as "skillful" and/or "scientific" boxers, and collectively they obviously constitute a large chunk of that period's major boxing history.

If you consider Mayweather a pure boxer, which I don't, maybe him for a short period.

Now I know where the Calderon thing came from in the other thread
