floyddoes'nt waste any movements, everything is for a reason and sometimes his fights will become boring due to that
seriously, people will overrate the guy because of the "GOAT" ranking he holds
like "robinson could do it al, he was perfect, best fighter of all time"

robinson got tagged alot, his headmovement was virtually non-existent
his jab is also not on par with jones's or floyds
jones and floyd just didn't/don't get hit
i know it's just your opinion
but as much as robinson has had a great career and how legendary his achievements are etc, we should'nt overrate him so much
Robinson Could deliver a Knockout Punch going back..And by the way..The term 'Pound for Pound' was created for him..

Celestino Caballero who fights at 122 lbs is also 5'11, he is nothing unless he goes up to the heavyweight division. Tyson was 5'11, he must be greater than Jones pound for pound since he was a dominant heavyweight.

Robinson was naturally 147 lbs at the time when fighters were weighed in at the day of the fight. Jones's best weight was 168 lbs, and he came into the fights at closer to 180 pounds. There's atleast a 20 pound difference in weight between the two and their careers shouldn't be directly compared to each other.

Robinson weighed 144 lbs when he lost to 160+ lb Jake LaMotta. He beat LaMotta 5 times out of 6.

Building weight is also far easier today than 50-60 years ago.

Also TS......Ray Robinson's prime was at Welterweight and there is very little footage of him fighting at welterweight so how can we purely judge him in his prime???

            Anyways.......Wazaa watch this

There is a difference between skills and boxing ability.

If Tarver vs Jones was a match between fundamental boxing without speed, power and reflexes taken into account, Tarver would have had an easy time. This is not an insult at Jones, as boxing does include athleticism, but there's a difference between natural ability and learned skill.

You can't teach anybody to fight like Jones. What he had was more than simple technique, he had natural ability and was extremely smart about the way he utilized his talents, unlike many other talented but less successful fighters who let their talent go to waste. I'm not saying the man didn't have skills, but he was not exactly a "technician" either.

Robinson was much more so, using his jabbing to set up his power punches and combinations, feinting to create an opening (Jones's feinting wasn't very impressive against Montell Griffin the first time), parrying punches unlike Jones who would simply dodge them, which he got away with in his prime, always having his feet set to punch with full leverage and never going against the ropes. He could fight it out in close and box from a distance. Now Robinson wasn't the most fundamental boxer either, he preferred to take the fight to his opponents with his speed and power and looked for the knockout at all times, and only rarely was forced to go on his "bicycle" to avoid being hit if he was physically overmatched, for example in the Joey Maxim fight.

Robinson's technical skills did allow him to fight up to his 40's successfully while we know that Jones was never the same after age 34, continuing to box with his unique style but far less successfully than in his dominating prime.
so does that mean robinson's skills could be thought?
it looks alot like robinson fought mostly on athleticism just didn't posses as much abilities as roy jones, lucky for his chin
swear your sayin roy never set up a punch with the jab, which he did, along with feints of his which were very affective

roy got ko'd by bigger men, 6'1, power punching big men in their natural class while roy was out of his
had he stayed down in the lower classes where he was stronger than everyone, was considered a power puncher, he would've lasted very much longer

that's hopkins and robinsons legacy, fighting little people

Prime for prime, Robinson was way ahead of his time and more skilled.

Of course you could teach a boxer to box like Robinson. Today's fighters have a lot to learn from him. The average boxer may not possess his speed but they'd do well enough with his footwork, feinting, punching technique, parrying. Vernon Forrest said he patterned himself based on Robinson's style.

Robinson fought middleweights who were bigger than him in size, outweighing him by up to 15 pounds. Jones was no smaller than the average light heavyweight, for example Glen Johnson.

                      I'm not getting your logic.

There are different body types, my friend, I do hope you realize that, because I can not understand your argument. Tyson at 15 weighed over 180 pounds solid. Roy at 15, even if he were 5'11, probably weighed only 120-130 pounds.

Tyson was just a naturally big person - and he never put on any weight through weight training. His routine was eat whatever I want, run, calisthenics, and box - that's it. He was not an artificial heavyweight, he was a natural.

A boxers height has nothing to do with what their natural weight is. Tyson would find it difficult to fight in any weight class outside of heavy. He might be ok at CW but he'd be drained at LHW.

If you're going to take things out of context and try to twist concepts around into ridiculous claims then there is no debating with you.
