    I think it should be.
It depends...if Cloud-Johnson were to happen before that and Cloud won I might hold off; Cloud could merit a rating in front of Pascal at that point depending on the how of a win if he won.

But, that would only be a case if Cloud wins right? Because, even Johnson stop Cloud in dominating fashion. Dawson still owns 2 victories over him.

Right. If Johnson wins, Dawson-Pascal does it. There's no one else to be considered a factor at this point.

Marg can't possibly have been focussed in that fight, because he'd just been caught trying to cheat, and there's no way of knowing whether Mosley would have looked as impressive against a fully focussed Margarito.

Plus styles make fights, and it's possible that Marg's style just happened to suit Mosley, like Ali's style just happened to suit Norton. Pac has had two impressive wins in a row at Welterweight, so styles making fights is less likely to be a factor in his case.
For welterweight ranking purposes, it doesn't really matter why Margarito lost. All that matters is that Margarito was #1, Shane (who was #3 at the time) beat him, thus Shane is now #1. When someone is ranked #1 in a division, they usually allowed keep that spot unless they lose even if there are other boxers who have looked more impressive. That doesn't mean he is better than Pacquiao or Mayweather, it just means he is ranked higher.

I notice The Ring ranks Pacquiao #1 at Welterweight, presumably because of a mixture of those question marks I mentioned, Mosley's long lay-off, and the dominating and decisive way Pac beat Cotto and Clottey.

Also what you say about people keeping their #1 contender spot isn't really true. People keep their lineal champion status unless they lose or retire or move to another weight division, or give it up voluntarily; but the #1 contender spot is much more fluid. A good example is Hopkins, who was the #1 contender at Light Heavyweight when Calzaghe retired, but who has been slipping down the rankings (both The Ring's rankings and boxingscene's) ever since.

I didn't realise you'd published an article on the Boxingscene ratings since Maidana beat Cayo. I've just seen that you've changed the Jr. Welterweight ratings since that fight, and I approve wholeheartedly of the changes.
