I've always said this, "if a fighter doesnt want to continue because they feel they've taken to much punishment then so be it".... people who critisize them are the true cowards... they sit behind a computer screen talking **** when they wouldnt even dare to ever step in a ring...

Cotto is a warrior, he fought through some hard shots with Marg and through the cut against Clottey.

I don't know if Marg cheated but like I said before, the shots he was taking from Cotto was one of the most impressive displays of chin I have ever seen. He was eating Cotto's shots like M&M's and asking for more.

I think he just had nothing left in him. It's a shame the corner didn't stop it earlier. He may still be great if they did.

true, but that's why you don't put 'yes'-men in your corner.

Have you read War, Baby: The glamor of violence? It's a a messed up book, it goes into detail about the whole drama in-between rounds during the Benn-McCellan fight. McClellan knew something was wrong after round 2, but his team talked him into continuing, by round 6 he said he wanted to quit because he knew something was definitely wrong and his trainer said to him "go out there and die"

Did Cotto quit in those fights? Yes. Would I label him a coward? No. Cotto has had a lot of wars over the years. Sooner or later they catch up to you. Sometimes fighters are too brave for their own good.

i agree, but that doesn't put cotto's quittage in a better light for me

I agree, his uncle should of looked after him much better than he did.
