he didn't duck nigel benn at all, he made an offer to benn
he fought malinga instead of collins and only offered collins a fight when collins was past it

Let's be honest, the sport of boxing is ruled by cherry picking promoters, television companies, sanctioning bodies, managers, hangers on, advisors, coaches, you name it. So to accuse any boxer of cherry picking his opponents is a bit naive.

for sure cherry picked, his resume is poor which is why he will never be considered an atg unless its by idiot biased fans. he had sensational talent but you know there are a good 6-7 boxers he should have fought to build his legacy

Benn called him put in 95, not sure why the fight fell through, Jones blames it on Don King.

He should of tried to fight:
            McClellan
            Toney II
            Benn
            Nunn
            Liles
            Jirov
            Darius M?
These would of been great names to have on his resume, the fact that you have to go back to 94 to find a best win speaks for itself

Don't know the whole story, but Jones himself blames King for the fight not happening saying that King wanted options. Also when did Jones make this offer Benn was completely shot by 96 and was 0-3 in his last 3 fights, before that he was a King fighter? During and interview at the IBHOF ( a month before the Brannon fight) when the name Benn comes up he makes no mention of offering him a fight, he says that if Benn beat Collins then maybe something could happen.

Murad Muhammad shot that down, which is one of the reasons I believe that Levin walked. His rep took a slam with that fight falling through

Just like Floyd, Jr. Roy had a incredible boxing skills and talent. But I still believe, he cherry picked most of his opponents the way Floyd did. Floyd, however, has a better resume than Roy.

Jones was never really comfortable facing southys, which would explain why he behaved the way he did when Nunn and Tarver were his mandatories

If Jones had wanted to avoid anybody at 168 pounds during his tenure as IBF champ it would have been Liles, not Calzaghe. Trainer and former world title challenger John Scully commented, ” If there was anyone in the game who I think Roy maybe wasn't in so much of a big hurry to fight, from what I have gathered over time, it would be Frankie Liles and Michael Nunn. They were tall southpaws with good range and difficult styles. Roy knew Frankie very well from the amateurs and, as a matter of fact, Frankie was the only guy who I ever saw give Roy a standing eight count (at the 1988 U.S. Championships). Roy would have fought him, I believe, but he wouldn't have been first on his list.”

But when Tarver had elevated himself to the IBF mandatory position in 2000, he had his promoter at the time Murad Muhammad write a letter questioning his attributes as the number one contender. Eventually, the IBF- which has had an ******uous relationship with Muhammad- acquiesced and forced Tarver into a box-off with Harding for the right to face Jones. Harding would beat Tarver in June of 2000( a loss though, that would be avenged a few years later) and Jones was free from having to face Tarver, until he agreed to face him this past Saturday.
It's funny, but he sure wasn't concerned about the credentials of some of his other mis-mandatories like Woods, Kelly, Hall and Frazier. But for some reason, Tarver- who just happened to fit the profile of two other guys that Jones was reluctant to face in the past, Frankie Liles and Michael Nunn- was somehow deemed not worthy of facing Jones at the time.

Collins and Liles were both trained by Freddie Roach. Roach tried to set up fights with Jones but his calls were not returned
