I heard the same thing out of South America.

I heard the hanging was staged. He didn't actually die in his jail cell, he hanged himself but was still breathing once they found him. The report said the medical staff were not able to save him, but rumor has it he's really alive and in hiding.

Personally, I think he's dead and people just don't want to accept it. He's a household name there in Venezuela.
