Originally posted by Lorily View PostAfter having read through all the comments in this thread, there are a couple of things I would like to point out....
First, you can only blame the "system" to a certain extent. You know the saying "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink". There are a few ludicrous fans on here that want to make it everyone elses fault but the man himself. In the end, Valero had his own choices to make... and he ultimately made the worst of worst. Final blame is on himself.
Secondly, alot of people who have never been in the situation themselves think that in theory it is sooo easy for a woman in a bad situation to just 'up and leave'. The situation becomes 100 times more complicated when there are children involved. You have to be realistic in the thought that Mrs. Valeros last visit to the hospital was not the first time the man laid hands on her. Remember, the woman was married to him... spent hours apon hours with this man, no one knows how many non life threatining times the man beat her before that (and maybe worse). The woman was CLEARLY scared, and obviously she knew that he was fully capable and willing to kill her, to think that her just saying "yeah, he did it, take him away" after this beating would mean that he would never hurt her again is completely naive. What was she supposed to do, just pack a bag, take her kids next door and just say "ok, I'm done with you". In theory, that's peaches... but it is not realistic. Anyone who took her in would probably be in danger as well. God only knows what all else went on behind the scenes and for how long, and when you add that he was a raging alchoholic, his wife & children were probably scared beyond comprehension. More than likely, he was the 'Monster in the closet'. When you add alchohol and anger, it is a horrific combination. She could have even told him the night of her murder that she was done and was leaving him (we will never know now), and that could have set him off to murder her.
Lastly, the conspiracy theorists are putting their head in the sand. The idea that the 'cartel' was following him around, followed him to this hotel that they checked in to at 11:30 at night... came in and stabbed his wife to death, made him go to the front desk and calmly confess... and then that he was (more than likely) murdered in a jail cell within hours of his in-process (by hanging him with HIS OWN clothes) - are grasping at straws. The more realistic opinion would say that the man knew his life was over after he brutally took his wifes life, and that he did not want to deal with his consequences. It is not really a mystery that they didn't find the knife or there was no blood on him (if there wasn't), his first instinct after the murder was more than likely to try to attempt to rid himself of the evidence and after coming to his senses (or sobering up) realized that it would be impossible after all that had already happened and the timeline to remove himself from the scenario.
I don't mean to be long winded about the subject, however after reading so many comments between the last few weeks and now, it concerned me how many people want to easily dismiss and blame other people. The hard cold truth is that HE stole a womans life and ROBBED his children of their mother. The fact that he is dead (wether by his own hand or by someone elses) is neither here nor there.

If he had welcomed the help then maybe this mess wouldn't have happened. He was supposed to do 6 months rehab but instead he checked out early and ruined lives.

This is a very bad week. RIP Valero. You would have done much greater if you only screw your head tight. tsk tsk tsk.
Guys, let's stop bashing him. I feel for the wife and especially the kids but who knows what is really going on with his head. One thing is certain, a sane man could not have done this. Condolences.
