pacman's increase in power (no flamers in here please)...

i am not accusing pacman of anything here, i swear! but i was reading something in a newspaper the other day and one part of the whole argument that pacman uses steroids seems to be this issue of him moving up in weight and his ko rate rising rather than falling. to me, this done sound somewhat strange. my question is this; how many fighters have gone up in weight and actually raised their ko rate like pacman has? can anyone name them? im 24 years old, and before the rise of really fast internet i was primarily a fan of british boxing, my point being that my knowledge of american boxing is not as entensive as my knowledge of british boxing. i cant think of any british boxers of note who have gone through the divisions and actually gained power. maybe there are some american based fighters that have?

once again, can i please point out that im not saying pacman is taking steroids. its just that all this talk about his increase in power as he has gone through the divisions made me wonder if other fighters have done the same in the past... please do not call me a *****

it's never happened in history. that's why Pac is most likely on roids.

It is very suspect to me that he goes up all that weight, and somehow holds hs speed, and gains punching power/resistance.

Im not one to accuse, and havent yet, but think about it.

Well, I can tell you that *****'s rise in weight has increased his estrogen levels.

Me personally, I don't think it's necessarily that he's hitting harder than a natural 147lber who is considered a KO puncher(case in point, Shane Mosley, who in my book hits much harder than PAC at WW), but, it's the type of opposition PAC has faced moving up in weight, that made his power look better than it really is at WW.

We surely can agree that MAB, Juanita and Erika are levels above David Diaz, De La Joto, Flattened, Cotto and Clottey. Those 3 Mexican ATGs chins are ATG are legendary for having the toughest chins.

first of all compare his FIGHT NIGHT WEIGHT to floyds....pac used to drain himself loads to make 130 and lower. floyd has actually gained MORE weight than pac over the years if you compare from when they started.

hit anyone on a sweet spot and it will hurt big time, thats the secret behind pacs ko rate, he has fantastic power punching accuracy. also he has slowed down but is still the uickest welter, he used to much quicker at 130 and less.

pac's power isn't the issue. it's pac's speed and southpaw angles. he's fighting at welterweight but with the speed of a featherweight. welterweights aren't used to that kind of speed coming from those kinds of angles.

only pac's fight against hatton didn't pac actually KO someone. all his other fights above 135 have been ref stoppages or tKOs.

Besides knocking out Hatton clean, he hasn't Ko'd anybody else.

He is a volume puncher now with decent enough pop to make you respect him.

But most importantly, speed can generate power and if you have the right posture and put your entire body behind a punch thrown, unstead of arm punching to look fleshy like Malignaggie does, then you're more than likely gonna have good power throughout.

Hmm, actually, I think he has actually gotten slower, but still faster than most WWs. Of course he's gonna punch harder, he weighs more now, duh.

No 147lber has hit him on the sweet spots yet. Sure, Cotto was getting some good shots in, but, if you look at those situations, none of 'em were clearly on the side jaw or temple.

He's been getting tagged behind the ears, and mostly around the eye, cheekbone area.

that is an interesting point. i recently went back and watched all of pacman's american fights and his technique has really improved. his right hand used to be really poor as has been well documented, but his body work has also improved immeasurably. in his early american fights be barely threw a body punch, but now he mixes it up really well to the head and body...
