he was just trying to hype up a boring fight where Pac was landing 2000 punches on gloves and Josh was doing the human punching bag with his high guard always up
Lampley simply stated what we were all thinking. Pacman was just sitting there throwing and could be openly countered easily had there been anyone in the ring with him with some decent counter punching ability, heart and some balls.(Ex:Marquez) It was a pitiful display from a fighter trying to seize a momentus victory from the grasp of boxing history if you ask me and Lampley was as bored as I was, apparently. What an utter waste of $50.
I had so much more fun watching Hatton get knocked out brutally trying to get into the fight than watching the 'Grand Master of soaking up shots to the arms' be afraid to trade, it was pitiful.
Pac did what he wanted, so be it. But I dare anyone to sit there and think Mayweather wouldn't counter the **** out of those shots Manny was throwing.
Floyd would slow down the tempo with accurate counters, defense and foot work. I'm not saying that he definitely beats Pac, because there's always that shot in the dark, but I go on record stating fairly confidently that Mayweather outboxes Pacquiao pretty easily.

Yeah, but Manny was fighting Clottey COMPLETELY different than he would fight Floyd.
Manny had absolutely no movement, because frankly he didn't need to. His usually bouncing in and out style was completely gone 30 seconds into the fight because he realized Clottey was just going to cover up all night long and throw 1 punch after being punched 10 times.

My point is similar to the way Marquez fought him. The counter oppritunuty is there. Somebody just need to sunderstand how to throw between those fast flurries and be gifted enough to make it happen. When Cotto had success, he fought like a less skilled version of Mayweather, moving and jabbing. What happens when the real Mayweather is in the ring?
I don't want to take anything away from Pacquiao, but I could see a lot of guys in Jww thru Lmw doing the same thing to Clottey last night as well.
Pac did what he was supposed to do but as Vitali Klitschko learned a few months ago as well, It's hard to make a guy fight that just doesn't want to.
I just wasn't impressed. Pac or Joshua. I'm having a hard time swallowing that harsh pill that was the first fight here in Dallas. It was bad enough that the undercard ******. I bet they didn't top 750k PPV buys and if they did, they robbed the public. (speaking in hindsight of course, is not too fair but oh well)
How can you not be impressed with Pacquiao? What more could he have done against a guy covering his head 95% of the fight.
The punches Pacquiao did take were because he WANTED to be hit to get Clottey to open up. And why be extra careful against counter punches versus someone who didn't counter a single punch the entire fight? You're looking for things in the fight that just weren't necessary for Manny to do, because he was fighting against a human punching bag.
He landed a career high amount of body shots, and threw a metric ****ton of punches to scare Clottey into never coming out of his defensive shell. Not much more you can ask of him.
I don't see what the problem is, all good to me. He's just adding some excitement, people really need to stop hating on Merchant, Lampley, and Kellerman, they are good at what they do.
I watched the Euro telecast and it was absolutely horrible. They talked between rounds, didnt show the post fight interview, had little to offer about what was going on or anything at all. They lacked any enthusiasm.
The only thing I liked was when they ****ted on "The Event" for playing music between rounds during a championship fight (Soto-Diaz). The disgust in their tone showed me they actually cared about the sport and the fundamentals of boxing events. This isnt MMA and music between rounds to amuse fans is a joke.
