    Concerning Golota

i have been a Golota fan since his prime in the mid-late 90's and I have to say that he has disappointed me more than once over the years! He was a fighter with great skills who failed himself in his big fights due to his mental-makeup. If anyone here has felt or knows someone who suffers anxiexy or panic attacks they know how bad they make you feel both physically and mentally. I will not re-cap his career as I am sure he tries not to as well. If he had retired after the 2nd Bowe fight, he would have been considered one of the greatest fighter's that wasted their potential. I have to say after watching the Brewster fight that Golota should hang em' up and spend time with his family. From what I have heard, he wasn't foolish with his money so he doesn't need to continue for a paycheck. I watched Golota come out of his corner for round 1 and he looked so awkward and stiff, he couldn't block one punch that Brewster threw! He wasn't able to defend himself or throw anything back that was meaningful. If we remember him against Bowe he was a very well rounded fighter! Bobbing and weaving away from Bowe's bombs and beating Bowe to the jab (one of the best I have seen) and throwing combinations that overwhelmed Bowe, who at this point would be considered a much better fighter than Brewster. Hopefully Golota will not consider coming back as he is half the fighter he was physically due to surgery as well as age. He got 4 shots at the title, twice controversially losing which is more than most fighters can say and he was certainly a crowd pleaser win or lose! He made his comeback to try and win a title, but also due to the way he went out against Tyson, which is understandable. No one wants to be remembered like that. His comeback was more successful than most expected so he should consider it successful. Very few fighter win a belt, he was good enough at one time to win one, but almost winning one on 2 occasions is not that bad and again, most fighters would have loved to have gotten one shot!

A sad story... One for Hollywood.
But Golota is still going to be remembered as a wasted talent, one of the better ones. It just proves what we all know, the biggest aspect in boxing ain't talent, speed, power or size, it's the mind.
I know a few people with all the gifts you could ask for, but they just doesn't have the mental strenght to back it up when the going gets tough.
That's just the way it goes...

Golota might have got screwed out of the WBA and IBF belts though. You can argue he beat Byrd and Ruiz.

I feel bad for him too, but he has been there so many times and has so much experience. He acted as if he had no clue that Brewster's favorite shot was the left hook! His trainer is an idiot to not prepare him for Lamon's style, and Andrew is an idiot for not watching tapes of the guys he is fighting as he and his trainer had stated in interviews. If he keeps his right up and uses his jab, this is a different fight! Any fighter can be knocked out if the just stand there and let a guy wind up and unload huge bombs on your chin. I was impressed by how powerful Lamon's shots were though. Golota should hang em up and relax with his family.

Obviously Golota still has many of the mental problems that plagued him throughout his career! His last 2 fights he seemed to have a better grip on things mentally, but, according to what I have been reading, he disappeared again before fight time, didn't get his gloves on till about 5 minutes prior to his ring entrance and showed hesitation once again to get out of the dressing room and into the ring! He supposedly was completely cold and stiff getting into the ring as he had absolutely no warmup!!!!!! This guy is really a mentalcase! You have to pity Andrew, he is messed up and this condition probably effects his life outside the ring as well. This by no means an excuse to take away any glory from Brewster, he did what he set out to do and has created many a big paydays for himself in the future!
