Does anyone believe that Roy Jones has a chance against B Hop?

    Huge Roy Jones fan here.

I don't see Roy having any chance of beating Hopkins. B-Hop will take a boring UD. I wish Roy never took this fight, but I guess he's got kids to feed.

I give him a slim chance based on teh fact that B-Hop is not like the other fighters that gave Roy problems but still B-Hop should still take it to Roy.

        His only hope.
if he does his normal **** of laying on the ropes and trying to play possum.. he is in for a long night

Hopkins will probably try and make it a rough fight to unsettle Jones' rhythm. I see him going for a KO at some point though no doubt.

Ill shed a few of my personal opinions on the fight.

Before I do I will say this:

I hope Roy can win... I THINK, he CAN win.
But if I was betting real money I would probably bet on Bernard.

            With that said.

In the last 20 months............ 20.

Bernard has fought MW Kelly Pavlik at 170lbs (Good win, nobody is taking anything away from it) But as a stylistic matchup... Kelly is a slow, flat footed, straight line fighter. He only has a jab, double jab, and a right hand.. occasionally the hook. At 170lbs, he was even slower.

14 months later, he fought Enrique Ornelas... a 13th ranked Middleweight.. and fought him at LHW. Yes Enrique had fights at SMW, but was never ranked NEAR the top 20... his best ranking came outside the top 10 of the MW division.

6 months later he will fight Roy.

Thats 20 months, and Bernard will be 45 1/2 years old, come fight time.

Those are some food for thought as far as Bernards activity in the last two years.

As far as Roy.. Roys ******nite has been pressure fighters and volume punchers... guys that come forward nonstop, and either have a big punch or throw 1,000 punches a fight.

            Bernard is neither of these.

At this point in the game, Roy doesnt have the legs to deal with SERIOUS pressure.. he cant move for 12 rounds straight and get out of the way like he used to.

Someone like Bernard is a boxing purist. And although I do believe Bernard will APPLY pressure in this fight, it will not be Glen Johnson/Joe Calzaghe type pressure.. Bernard will box Roy. Bernards output is also around 35-45 punches a round. This favors Roy as far as allowing Roy those few extra seconds he needs at this point in his game to get set, and to get off. Against Bernard, Roy will have the time he needs to mount his own offense.

Side note; Bernards last stoppage was in 2004 against a naturally smaller Oscar De La Hoya, and the fight was under 160lbs.

In this fight, As Bernard comes forward Roy will be backing up and circling ( I am hoping on the circling part)... Roy will be shooting flashy jabs from the outside, and Bernard will have his chin tucked and he will be looking for the counter right hand.

If Roy does get caught, it WILL be from a right hand.. and it will probably be a counter punch.

It will be an interesting fight for those who have followed these guys the last 20 years.

            Looking forward to it.

I believe Roy will throw more punches than Bernard, and when Roy punches it's usually flashy, and it usually gets the crowd on his side. Also he has a win over Bernard, so that gives him confidence going into this fight... Roys confidence at this stage is key to his success in the ring. I believe he is fully confident in this fight.

WAR RJJ. I would love to believe that RJJ can win on the outside but RJJs legs are shot. He has to fight smart thats the only way to beat BHOP

BUT MAYBE.... JUST MAYBE THE OLD RJJ WILL SHOW UP!!!!!

              WAR RJJ!!!!

Personally I still think roy is a bad style matchup for nard.

Call me crazy.. but nard fights the fight roy needs to be fighting against nowdays. Roy needs a passive guy infront of him

He's still faster than nard, still capable of throwing more punches than nard, and i'll argue he still hits as hard if not harder.. It's the chin that aint all there.

I love bernard.. but i have really bad feelings about this fight. I just feel like it's the perfect style to make roy look better than before.
