we can make excuses for Roy all day long...bottom line is that he is very chinny. Ask yourself this, what big punchers did he face prior to his return back to LHW. He is like Taylor in the sense that he is basically the same fighter but going against big punchers.....he had is subpar chin exposed.

I'm not saying he had a fantastic chin prior to going up to Heavy, but it certainly wasn't horrible. You just can't hide a terrible chin for over a decade of professional boxing at the top level, you can't.

I understand that, I rated him at #1 of those guys, I just don't think he is far ahead of Hagler. I think to say he is not even comparable to Hagler is going a bit far.

When I think of greatest southpaw ever, three names come to mind.

Pernell Whitaker
Marvin Hagler
Manny Pacquiao

All three are comparable, in spite of how different their styles were/are.

Im not trying to flame but if you following Roy as long as I have you would know that he didnt have a bad chin at all any time during his career until he dropped that weight. Heres him taking bombs from a Heavyweight after he didnt even blink. And you think Pac can crack his chin?

If they were the same size and Pac landed a shot like that against Roy then Roy would be layed up stiff. Ruiz is not a big puncher by any means. P4P manny is more explosive and more powerful than Ruiz

One thing I will say is that Roy let people land big shots on him due to his arrogance. P4P he couldn't let Manny do that or it would be lights out for him. Also Roy doesn't have the tools to keep pressure fighters off of him, which maybe a reason he never faced elite ones in his prime.
