I alway thought Mayweather ducked Margarito until i find out the truth about how Arum offered 8 Million for the Margarito fight but then Mayweather would have to sign an extention to his contract which he had the right to buy out at that point.

Mayweather then counter that he would fight Margarito for 8 Million but he would then want Arum to guarantee him a certain amount for a fight with Cotto, De la hoya and Hatton, Arum saying the money wasnt there by offering Mayweather less for a cotto fight 7Million was just not right, How are you going to fight Margarito for 8 Million then you would comeback down to fight Cotto for 7Million??

Mayweather should have fought Cotto after he fought Hatton or try to get that fight and that was my only problem with Floyd before he retired.

When Margarito and Cotto was the 2 top Welterweight, Floyd was retired hiding in his bathroom.. He just came back when Margarito and Cotto were already worn out and a 39 years old Mosley of inactivity for 1 year and 6 months.

He will fight Pac once a battle worn out Pacquiao clean all the people Floyd avoided.

This is just one in a long line of dumb ass posts that has no merit.

I remember very clearly that Floyd called out Cotto at 140 after he beat Gatti in June 2005. At the time, Arum was still Floyd's promoter. Arum chose not to put Cotto in the ring with Mayweather. It was 2.5 years and eight Cotto fights later (against six stiffs and two has beens) that Cotto, Arum and Brian Kenny, Larry Merchant and the all the dumbass haters on this site started calling for Mayweather to fight Cotto. That was after Mayweather decided to retire. Mayweather called out Mosley from 1999 at 135 to 2006 at 147. Mosley refused to fight him for seven years. But after he retired, Mosley suddenly wanted the fight.

Brian Kenny harassed Mayweather on ESPN prior to his fight with Zab Judah in April 2006 for not fighting Baldomir and Ricky Hatton. He didn't mention Margarito because Margarito was considered the number three welterweight and no one cared about him at the time.

So, when Cotto and Hatton refused to fight Mayweather at 140 and Mosley refused to fight him for seven years, that was not considered ducking. Yet, when Mayweather chose to retire instead of fighting two guys he had already offered to fight in the past and one that was considered a mid-level fighter at the time (Margarito), he was ducking.


I want to thank all the haters for showing me the light. I have now figured it out. The only active boxer who has ever ducked anyone is Floyd Mayweather!

Why don't you get your head out of your ass and stop embarrassing yourself. 350,000 times $40 per person adds up to $14 million. That doesn't include the live gate or the site fee that the casino paid or the amount HBO paid to broadcast the fight or the fees for international rights or anything else that helps promoters make money. So, yes, he made $8 million. How many PPVs do you think a Margarito fight would have drawn? Margarito only drew 500,000 two years later against Cotto.
