    JMM vs Diaz

Will people remember this fight like they do Barrera vs Morales, Ward vs Gatti, Corrales vs Castillo?

I mean, it WAS FOTY 2009.

Was it good enough to put it on that level?

IMO Williams-Martinez was FOTY 09 but yes Marquez-Diaz was also a tremedous fight and it will go into a time capsule.

Whenever you mentione great lightweight fights or any fights for that mater this has to be there.

the fight in my opinion was stunning, i mean all these fights are great but for different reasons. I mean Marquez was the legend with experiance and Diaz was the young blood with a relentless attack. The fight was amazing.

Man I was there live and I couln't believe my eyes, I was so sure JMM would outclass and k.o. Diaz with ease, but as soon as the opening bell rang I saw The Baby Bull take it to Marquez and seemed like he was on his way to a victory until JMM counter punches took a toll on Diaz, then the fight changed. It was just a great fight, JMM used every inch of his experience to beat Diaz the way he did.

I give props to Diaz, he almost had it. I think if it was any other lightweight in there with Diaz that night, they wouln't have stood a chance.

In terms of action and excitement, yes, it is up there, but I don't think it would be remembered the same way as a Ward/Gatti or a Barrera/Morales because those fights produced trilogies and a lot of drama in terms of rivalry.

Btw I don't understand why they didn't have a rematch.
