1st off, I know DeMarco would lose before the fight even started. He was acting weird then. You have the biggest fight of your life against a killer and all he was worried about was blowing kisses to everyone, e****ally his daughter. Even when the guy is introducing him, he spent the whole time smooching with his daughter. Then before the fight he's kissing all these guys. Then they show Valero on the other side of the ring and he looks like straight business and a guy coming for destruction. Im all for family but you can see your daughter any time. Its time for you to be focused on the fight, fool. His whole demeanor was laid back and unaware of the situation.
Then the fight starts and IDK what happened. IDK if DeMarco was just showing him alot of respect, or was it the game plan to not take any chances, or did he overtrain, or what but he was so bland. I got all pumped up to watch this fight and its like he never even tried. It was like Tarver against Hopkins but this guy has no excuse because he didnt have to lose alot of weight. It just looked like physically & mentally he was out of it before the fight even started. I also think the Southpaw style of Valero gave him some problems. That could be the answer to alot of it because that can just make you look like nothing if you dont know what youre doing but still it seemed like DeMarco just never showed up.
As for Valero, I had mixed feelings. I think he does look a little like a young Pac. He was doing the same exact thing over & over again. He has some nice pop but IDK if its flat out special. However like Pac, I think it could be flat out special if he learned how to do more things with his punches. He had some nice speed and I loved his will. That was the biggest difference in the fight. After like 1 or 2 rounds Valero was leaking from everywhere. His head was split open, his cheek was split, above his eye was cut, and his nose was busted and not one single time did he looked like he wanted to stop or that he was going to let it bother him. Meanwhile DeMarco looked like a ***** at the end. When they showed his corner asking him did he want to stop, I was thinking to myself "you are Mexican, you cant quit. They will never forgive your ass if you do that". Still, he didnt have it so who knows.
The #1 thing that impressed me the most tonight though was Valero's defense. DeMarco didnt throw much but whenever he did, Valero was dodging **** like he was Sweet Pea. He had nice instincts. He knew when to get out and move. He was aggressive but never put himself in danger. That will do him well in the future. I also thought that DeMarco was so passive that its hard to fully judge Valero. His power didnt look all that special but its hard to really stop someone who is that cautious. If DeMarco was aggressive then Valero may have gotten him out of there. Thats why I want to see him fight someone like Katsidis next so he can really show how good his power is
