If you didn't see Buster vs Tyson but first heard about it...

....where were you and how did you find out?

I was walking through the streets of Georgetown, a pretty famous street in Washington DC where each side of the street has bars and clubs. Plenty of college kids, which I was at the time.

Anyway, these guys start running out of the bar...screaming "HOLY ****! TYSON JUST GOT KNOCKED OUT! TYSON GOT KNOCKED OUT!" and they run back into the bar. Immediately a crowd forms to get inside. Man....all I heard as we watched the slow-mo was "NO ****ING WAY!"

My friends were kinda stunned and I said..."I taped it. Let's go home!"

Man, back in the day, that's how big Tyson was. It was like Pearl Harbor and JFK. It was THEE biggest news of the week. The following Monday, every morning show had a crew at Buster Douglas' house and he wasn't even home yet! They had news crews all over our city asking for people's reaction. Man, what a day after!

Anyway, how'd did you feel when you first heard about it? Where were you?

It wasn't to much of a suprise, after firing Kevin Rooney he went straight downhill. It was only a matter of time.

How can you say it was not a surprise did you Tyson's fight prior to fighting Douglas against the #1 Contender Carl "the truth" Williams, he dropped him in like 48 seconds.

Tyson weighed in at over 220 pounds against Douglas.

Everytime Tyson looses he weighs in at over 220 pounds

In his comeback fights after prison against McNeely Bruno Seldon Mathis Jr he weighed for all those fights at like 216 217 218 and he looked better than ever, but then against Holyfield he came in at 222.

In the second fight against Holyfield he came in at under 220 and he was looking alot better. If he did not loose his cool and bite Holyfield he might have won that fight and could have had an all time great type career. But he like Golota blew their chances to become legends because they are psychotics.

I was sad. What looked to be the best thing boxing had ever seen went down the toilet. Tyson looked like he was going to be the best heavyweight ever. It ended so quick. Then after that he was never close to the best ever. So Sad.

As bad as it was that Tyson pissed away a chance to be an all time great, I look at it from the other side. Buster Douglas fought a perfect, masterpiece, whale of a fight. Everything from his Mom dying to no one picking him to make it past a few rounds, he stood up like a man and did what he had to do. Douglas imposed his will on Tyson, kept him at bay with blistering jabs and straight right hands, smothered Tyson when he got into his range to take away his power. Buster knew when to parry and when to lay the leather. An overlooked all time boxing clinic.

I was home from college when I saw the fight. Normally my Dad and I watched the fights when they were on, but he went to bed early being beat from chemo. I went upstairs a couple times telling him what was going on, to try and get him to come down, but he thought I was joking.

I'd worked all day, since 8 am. Me and a buddy bought it and I dozed for most of the early rounds. Woke up about rd5 or 6 and thought I was still dreaming as I watched Buster batter him all around the ring.
