Pac-malinaggi could’ve been made interesting by a mutual dislike, so at least there would’ve been some **** talking. Although the fight makes no money, it would’ve been an easier fight for pacman.
Instead, you end up with pacman-clottey…..uninteresting. nobody knows clottey, he can barely talk, and his biggest win is against zab Judah. High-risk, low-reward, and nobody will be watching. But hey, arum gets paid, right??!!!
Clottey will make it a closer fight than cotto did, but if cotto was able to “outwork” clottey to a close decision, I expect many, on steroids, to be able to at least do the same…

Yeah, I mean...its pretty dumb that the fight isn't going through, but if there is anything positive that has come out of the whole circus is that people are talking about this fight now.
I personally would have liked the fight to take place during the summer, maybe in May, but will likely happen in the fall...but at least then, the buzz will have hopefully grown. ( I don't see hype for this fight dying unless Manny or Floyd loses their next fights)
But yeah, its all over the news and on the front page of most sports publications, so I guess if they were trying to promote this fight to the masses, its working.

This fight does ZERO for Pac. Its not like team Pac "stated" Cotto "LOST" to Clottey when they were making the fight with Cotto.... Clottey IMO is just a pitiful ploy and last result to get Mayweather to give in.
If this fight goes down, Pac will look very bad to the general public and not just the boxing public either, people are turning btw. He will also lose leverage as the PPV numbers will be horrible not to mention the fight being boring and that of a sparring session with Pac winning a UD. Not to mention being the favorite by a wide margin. No hype, no drama yet *******s are game for it.
All they can say is Mathew Hatton? Mayweather just came out and said he wants to fight Pac, where's Hatton's name involved in that statement?

Well, for one keeping the money in house is a win-win for Top Rank, and Arum specifically.
But another reason why is probably because of the time constrictions with the March date. Its already January, and they need sufficient time to promote this fight.
It just makes it a whole lot easier with the time fram given when you can negotiate terms with a manager, and not have to deal with another promoter.
