your explanation noted. i left my sense of humor behind in the last burner thread
      i read.

imho, pac should be legit top 5 atg if he beats floyd, claims the lineal belt from ssm/berto and/or takes a 154 title before retiring.

Keep dreaming. He's still has a ways before he can pass Robinson.

Robinson was 85-0 as an amateur with 69 of those victories coming by way of knockout, 40 in the first round. He turned professional in 1940 at the age of 19 and by 1951 had a professional record of 128-1-2 with 84 knockouts. Robinson also beat something like 11 HOF boxers in his career.

Pacquiao has beaten 5 HOF boxers, and 6 if (that's a big IF) he beats Mayweather.

To topple Robinson as the #1 boxer of all time, I'd imagine Manny needs to beat somewhere around 8 HOF boxers, at least. He'd need to beat Mayweather, beat Mosley, and a few others.

Learn some boxing history before you go making ridiculous claims.

Burner's not really level headed. I am.

I agree, if he beats Floyd, he's top five. But he's a ways from passing Sugar Ray Robinson in my mind.

you beat me to it. at least i'm humble by saying he'll be legit top 5 atg if he does that.

I think people SAY Manny is top 5 no matter if he wins or loses to Floyd, but I don't think that's true. Top ten, probably. But if you fail your biggest test as a fighter, the history books remember that.

Look at Roy Jones for instance. At his peak, some regarded Roy as a top 10 ATG and a possible conquerer of Robinson's throne. But when he had to fight the best LHW in his career (Tarver), he failed. Most people now place Jones in the bottom half of the top 100.

i see your point. but win or lose against floyd, i think pac has already stamped his legacy as the best fighter of his generation.

after a cup of coffee, i'm seriously thinking that he will set the new standard if he does beat floyd, ssm/berto, plus an eighth world title at 154.

                  that'll be g.o.a.t. material.

I have a problem with the whole 154 deal if it's a catchweight fight against a mediocre titlist like Yuri Foreman.

That would be Pac's 2nd division where he snatched a title from a weak titlist (see David Diaz).

I'm not so sure that people will be able to still say Pac was better than Floyd if Manny loses. It's easy to say now, but if Pac gets beaten easy, it'd be hard to rank him above Floyd.

the pac/floyd fight is really 50/50 so we cant really say how it will go. but again, atg rankings are a matter of opinion and opinion says at the moment that he tops floyd. if he loses to floyd, he lost to a better fighter with his legacy still intact.

if he beats floyd decisively in contrast to marquez 1 and 2, that'll be an additional 1m rep points for pac.

i dont have any problem with the "weak titlist" thing. we can always say that floyd took the lineal ww belt from a weak title holder. beating any legit title holder for any legit ABC belt is still an achievement.
