"Floyd beating Marquez was more than meets the eye"

Guys there was a lot of debate on the boards when Floyd came back to boxing about him picking Marquez. I for one put up points on Marquez and said you cannot question the size of a man’s heart. The fight itself looked like a glorified sparring session where as it was said “it looked like a man playing with his little son” as stated on the GET UR FACTS STRIGHT talk show with HORUS Floyd picked that fight as a strategic business move. If you think about like this at the time when it was first rumored that Floyd was coming back talk of a rematch with Hatton were on the horizons. Hatton had acquired Floyd Sr to be his trainer and was putting a nice back drop to what would have been a ***y selling point for their fight. Hatton being in bed with GBP and Money Mayweather promotions being in bed with GBP as well. FF with the fight between Marquez and FMJ on hold due to a rib injury Hatton takes a hook to the chin and also losses his shot at the lucrative rematch with Floyd.

Floyd handles Marquez in easy fashion and sets up this MEGA fight with Pacquiao. By beating Marquez the #2 P4P fighter in the world at the time not only did Floyd get a tune up but he secured himself the fight with Pacquiao by taking his only other big money option off the table. Before Marquez fought Floyd there were talks of a Marquez vs Pacquiao III now after Floyd beat him with ease those scream have been silenced. It appears the winner of Pacquiao vs Hatton was going to get the winner of Floyd vs Marquez all along. Think about this Marquez, Mayweather and Hatton are somewhat promoted by GBP. It makes perfect sense and it is going to make dollars too. With the eventual face off between the lineal Champion Mosley and the winner of Pacquiao vs Mayweather if he can get past Berto on January 30th. People were trashing Floyd and I may have been one of them but after some real thought I see the way his move played out for him. It was a calculated selection and paid off for him....Lefty

That fight was a disgrace. He shoulda faced a lower top 10 WW when he came back if he ain't want it wit SSM.

But **** it, it's over. He did indeed kill Pac-JMM 3 and made the Pac fight the next most logical fight. Smart, although shameless.

Now we just need the winner of this fight vs the SSM-Berto winner for basically an undisputed WW champ, unless you count Isaac H's IBF belt.

If the SSM-Berto winner don't become #1 at WW in the rankings, Pac-Mr boat buyer is also for the lineal WW title. It's vacant right now. SSM should rightfully still be the #1 WW, but Pac is now.

That **** was the equivalent of Joe Calzaghe picking on miguel Cotto.

Then why should he fight PAC. Wouldn't it be the same outcome. Same equivalence ??

It would be ok for PAC JMM III?

We all know it was a tune up against a lightweight. The only problem I had was Floyd and certain people treating it like a legit fight.

Nope Lefty,it was exactly what the eye saw!!It was floyd coming out of retirement & doing what he's always done, which is fighting people he's sure he can beat!!There are too many credible welterweights that floyd could have fought, too many!!I think it's actually sad that he can be ranked soooo high at 147,when he has no top 10 welter on his record!!It makes me wonder about fight fans in general,Cotto for example fought everyone & the ring somehow found it necessary to rank floyd higher for beating a fat lightweight, that's a crying shame!!

Just curious where Top Rank figures in all this, bro.

Pac fought Cotto in a fight many people were calling 50/50. What if Pac had lost?

I believe if PAC would have lost Floyd would have fought Shane next. I don't think FMJ would have fought Cotto. FMJ had inside on PAC since his dad coached against him when he trained hatton. i believe they saw something and he was banking on PAC. Exact reason why he stood up and applauided PAC's KO of Hatton like shown in a vid on this forum in a previous thread. If Cotto wins that fight he foils FMJ's plan but you must admit FMJ has some good forsight no?....Lefty

Marquez isn't Pac. Marquez has very little power already and at 140+ he has NONE. Pac has 1 punch proven knockout power at 147.

End of thread, Mayweather picked Marquez because he can't punch and lands on his ass in every fight.
