I'm not sure what that's got to do with anything? I'm sure plenty of fighters doubt themselves at times though.

Give a lot more clarity to his crown ***els comments.

You forgot about Jones ducking an old Duran and Hector Camacho, lol. The Super Middleweight division was a joke compared to how it is now.

Jones beat the main guy James Toney. Benn didn't want to leave the U.K. and Eubank was coming off losses and all those other names mentioned may have been solid contenders, but weren't much better and most aren't even remembered. If Jones fought those guys instead of the group of fighters he beat, people will say he ducked that group too face less competition.

The only article I've seen which states anything remotely resembling an unwillingness to face Jones was where he said, if they fought, he'd want to be paid the crown ***els. Calzaghe bashers will take that as meaning he wasn't prepared to fight Jones at all. Level-headed people will see it for what it is -- a suggestion that he would require a very good payday for taking the risk, should the fight ever arise. That's never been solid evidence of absolute unwillingness to fight Jones.
and Calzaghe fans will take those articles as if Calzaghe signed the contract and Jones ripped it up. once again, jones went after fighters "considered" much better and more dangerous than calzaghe at the time. Jones would have no reason to turn down a fight with Calzaghe. Joe wasn't taken seriously by most ppl including ppl in the UK. Joe couldn't even fill a 5000 seat arena before 2004 and that's in his own homeland.

Eubank was ranked no. 3 in 1992, 1993 and 1994. Jones didn't fight him then. Lucas wasn't ranked at any point during Roys tenure at 168. This info is plain to see in the threadstart.

You got to do better or put your tail between your legs.

But he should have faced at least Collins right? That world beater.

              Garbage.

Doesn't make me believe he didn't want to fight Jones at all. Hopkins neither, since he was calling him out in 2002 (usually post-fight interviews, etc), saying it's his ultimate fight and how we would fight him in his own back garden if necessary.

I guess I never rated Jones as highly as others do. I appreciate and respect him, can't deny he had skills, but he wasn't invincible as some make him out to be. I don't like showboating and pulling faces at binmen either. Calzaghe would have always given him problems, IMO.

                  Surely you must be joking?

Nunn was a great fighter and Liles was definetely a threat. Jones had big troubles with Liles as an AM so maybe that's why he ducked him.

What i do remember is collins telling people before he retired that he only wants jones or he will retire, im not sure why the fight wasnt made but as far as i know collins said he would fight jones in a phone booth, im persuming he meant by that he would travel to fight him no problem

As for calzaghe, he simply said he would have to be paid a lot to travel to fight jones, theres a big difference between that and saying no i wont fight him

Binmen? I keep hearing Joe fans say stuff like this and it makes me laugh. As opposed to Joe's opposition? LOL. No one can actually name any binmen on Roy's record.

There is ONE guy (a cop) that does not belong on there. That you could classify as a complete bum.

I can name more than ONE on Joe's record.
