Report: Mayweather Agrees To Pacquiao Bout
If Scheduled, Fight Could Set PPV Records
Floyd Mayweather has agreed to terms to the highly anticipated welterweight bout against Manny Pacquiao, ESPN reported.
If the bout is officially scheduled, the fight is expected to set all-time pay-per-view buys.
ESPN reported that Top Rank’s Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, was supposed to meet with the boxer Tuesday night in the Philippines to close Pacquiao’s side of the deal.
The proposed date for the fight is March 13, although sources told ESPN that it could be moved to May 1. According to the sports Web site, Mayweather was OK with either date.
The venue for the fight is still yet to be determined. According to ESPN, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is interested in hosting the fight at the team’s new stadium. Venues in Las Vegas – including the MGM Grand – are also interested, as is New Orleans’ Superdome.
