What I think Floyd should do is........

Assuming that the Pac fight happens in May, he should make that fight in England against a journeyman that he could get some rounds out of and also have a good exciting fight against. BUT instead of trying to put it on PPV or even on HBO, that would be an excellent time to make it a free fight on ABC, NBC, FOX, etc. I think that would be the perfect way at this point to build up to the fight in May. I know Floyd wanted to have a fight in England and he also said he wanted to eventually do a fight on the free networks so this would be an excellent time to do kill two birds with one stone.

You guys obviously didn't bother even reading the full OP.

Personally I'd love it because I'm a Brit and would jump at the opportunity to see him fight live, even if it was against a journeyman. If it made no difference to the Pacquiao fight and was on on free television Stateside there'd be no reason to condemn the move either.

It'd never happen though. Mayweather is just about the big fights and I think he trusts himself enough to not need to beat on tomato cans for confidence.

Mayweather will lose an avid fan if his next fight won't be either Mosley or Pacquiao.

Exactly. His main point in this thread is to have the fight free on TV.

That would be amazing. I think it will also draw so many non-boxing fans and turn them into boxing fans but I don't think it will ever happen as so much money is on the line.

This is the perfect example of the blind hate for Floyd on this board. Floyd just came off a two year layoff, he is supposed to just sit back another 9 months without taking a tuneup? If a deal is struck for the 1st of May, there wouldn't be any time to make a big fight, especially since Mosley is fighting January. Atleast by Floyd doing it the way I highlighted in my original post everybody wins. Boxing wins because a boxing superstar goes abroad and fights on national tv bringing in new fans to the sport right before the biggest fight in boxing history is set to happen. The fans win because it's a free fight, fans in the UK get the chance to see Floyd fight live, and the more casual fans will have the chance to see the fight on national tv. Floyd wins because of the exposure he would get would further him as a global brand, it's a perfect lead in to the Pacquiao fight, and he gets the tuneup that he needs while taking away the pressure of trying to prove he is a bigger draw than Pacman. Anyone who is against this is just a blind Floyd hater, it makes perfect sense for everyone.
