WOW.........just wow. I really didn't expect him to lose but Ward impressed the **** out of me. He should handle Froch pretty good though.

Froch has a good chance of stopping Kessler.

I see no reason why he can't beat the Dane. Kessler doesn't have the unorthadox style of Pascal, the countering ability of Taylor, and he certainly doesn't have the speed of Dirrell.

Kessler doesn't deal with angles well, and Froch throws punches from all sorts of positions. As soon as he has felt Froch's power a few times he will begin to fade. Saying that, I envisage this being a close fight.

kessler will beat the **** out of froch, stylisticly its a perfect fight for him. he better hope abraham took some more out of taylor though cuz the taylor that fought abraham beats kessler all day, along with everyone else in the super six except for froch. kessler got lucky in the draw so he will probably make it to the semis though. only question then is weather its another boxing lesson from ward or dirrell or if abraham knocks him the hell out, cuz he aint gettin no further.

he has power though and can place his punches well when he's given time - which he will be against froch

i also forsee froch standing right in the range kessler wants him at seeing as he too lacks any inside game

i'm not saying froch doesn't stand a chance but kessler has to be strong favourite considering their styles

Yeah, his fundemental are incredible. For the come forward fighters he can beat them with easy whereas someone like Ward may actually struggle with constant pressure from a Margarito type fighter Kessler seems to thrive (ala Andrade) but when confronted with a mover he has no head movement.

He needs a new trainer to implement that, or a guy who can strengthen his fundementals and make him a (proberbly boring) but safety first fighter like Steward did with Wlad infact Steward would be a good choice.

a fighter who is crafty, quick and skilled is kess's worst nightmare (ala ward, calz, rjj) however a come forward fighter, who is slow, over-confident but strong is one that is perfect for kess.

i do worry about kess's heart and desire, and i think how does a fight in which you've lost every single round affect a fighter who even in defeat has always put in a valiant performance. kess shouldn't let this defeat get to him and the fact that he is already looking ahead is good. i still think there is a good chance for kess in this tourney because if there is one fight that i could pick for him so he can get his confidence back its a fight with froch. froch is tailor made for kess.

i really hope though he learns to improve his style, i think he has settled into a comfort zone with his training and hopefully if he gets a new trainer (manny steward!!!!) he can improve his game.

                  __________________________________________________ __________

EDIT: i seem to agree with Ryn0 that manny would be a good trainer for kess. in the build up to the calzaghe fight i think steward expressed his admiration for kess a few times. the fact that steward was linked to cotto before 'firepower' tells me that maybe steward is looking for another fighter.

steward imo would be a good choice because:

                  1) he has a wonderful ability to leave in place what is right and develop the weaknesses in the fighters game. in kess's things its basic thing like not backing out in straight lines, ustilising a double jab etc

                  2) not only that but steward has worked with many good fighters with good 1-2's (hearns, lewis, vlad etc).

                  3) steward brings a certain fire to the corner which he often used to change his fighters mindset from boxer =====> to puncher (like he often did with lewis). i can't help but think a more aggressive kessler would have had manhadled ward and had more success.

                  4) i think manny is also very well schooled in the fight game and i think he could develop some of kess's inside game and show him how to use his elbow to make space for the uppercut, how to throw in body shots as well etc.

                  5) manny brings a HOF presence to the corner with him, and isn't outfoxed often. kess and his corner had the look of a losing team by rnd8/9, they had the same look on their faces when kess fought calz - overawed, befuddled and confused. kess's corner failed to spot the basic mistakes until it was too late; i.e. kess should have spinned out of clinches and not walked straight backwards etc....

Did anyone catch the fact that the ring was small, at 18X18?

The Super Six rings are suppose to be 20X20, but they agreed on a smaller ring.
