I think the Mayweather-Marquez fight numbers was "so unexpected" because it was such an obvious mismatch, but I'd agree that the Mexican fans made up the majority buys.

He made an enormous fan base after the fight with Pac.
Why? Many "casual" mexicans were not expecting JMM to fight the way he did against Pac. Many boxing fans and casual fans noted that JMM was simply an exciting fighter that arguably won the fight against the "Mexcutioner"; furthermore his "Pac-hunt" campaign in higher weights enticed the boxing community and mexican fans alike. Ultimately he created his fanbase by the time Floyd came around. So IMO, I truly believe JMM has developed a HEAVY following.

I swear you are an alt of Horus Haymon lol...
          Later!
Then tell me why his VERY next PPV vs Casamayor was the worst HBO PPV last year with 100k buys? and this was with Forrest-Mora 2 on the undercard....then his next fight was on reg HBO......please help me explain

People said the same against Baldomir and Oscar. Look at Mayweather now

Fact is, slick defensive counter punchers are more appreciated then we think.
