    Disrespectful

The way people are looking past Cotto is so disrespectful. I see bad things in the future for Pacquiao. This is by far Pac Man's greatest test and I don't think he can win it. They say Cotto is damaged goods. Losing one tough war, a loss that is now questionable, does not make you damaged goods. A tough fight against Clottey does not make you damaged goods. In fact, Cotto would have had problems with Clottey had he faced him BEFORE Margarito. Clottey is just that tough.

I see Cotto beating Pacquiao via TKO around round 8. I don't see Pacquiao being able to withstand an assault from Cotto. The question is not if Cotto can handle Pacquiao's speed because Cotto knows how to handle speed fighters. His fights with Judah and Mosley prove that and Pacquiao is not that much faster than they are, he just looks incredibly fast because the last three fighters he fought moved like snails compared to him. The real question is can Manny take Cotto's power. He has never been hit by someone with Cotto's power. It's not that instant KO power, it's that thudding sledgehammer type power that hurts every time you get hit with it. Manny is fast, but there is no way he can avoid Cotto's power the entire fight.

At welterweight Cotto has never been knocked down. Margarito won via TKO, but Cotto went down on his own, he wasn't knocked down. Manny has good power, but his power is limited to junior welterweight. In the Hatton fight, Manny blasted Hatton into oblivion. However, one fight earlier against De La Hoya, Manny could not knock down the Golden Boy. Manny was hitting him with some hard, clean shots, but Oscar did not go down. Oscar even went on record and said he wished Manny would have knocked him out. With that knowledge, one has to realize that an early KO for Pacman is out of the question unless Cotto becomes brittle overnight and slips on a banana peel.

This fight, for all the talk of power and speed and angles, will come down to ONE question: Who can back who up first? Neither fighter is good at fighting backwards. Cotto is quite vunerable backing up and Manny's best attacks are when he is coming forward as he is not a good counter puncher. Even Freddie Roach, during the fight with Marquez, told Pacquiao to never back up. If Pacquiao makes Cotto back up, Pacquiao will win. If Cotto makes Pacquiao back up, Cotto will win.

I see Pacquiao starting out fast, using his hand and foot speed. Cotto will try to study Pacquiao as he pumps his jab. At some point, around round 4, Cotto will catch Pacquiao with a good shot. Pacquiao will throw his arms in the air, hit his gloves together, then come forward to try to land some shots on Cotto. They will exchange punches and Cotto will nail Pacquiao with a good shot or two to the body. After that, I see Pacquiao backing up after tasting Cotto's power. That will be the beginning of the end for Pacquiao as Cotto will turn into the master stalker that he is and hunt Pacquiao down. Pacman will survive a few rounds, even look good a time or two, but the resulting shots he will take for the next few rounds will slow him dramatically leading to a stoppage around round 8.

Pacquiao can win, no doubt there. He can shock the hell out of me and beat Cotto. I would not hate if he did. However, I just don't see it that way. It would take a technically perfect fight from Pacquiao to beat Cotto and Pacquiao is too much of a warrior. He will try to exchange with Cotto and Cotto will brutalize him if they trade, plain and simple.

So all the talk of Mayweather vs Pacquiao at Texas Stadium should be shut down as that fight will quickly become Mayweather vs Cotto.

This should motivate Cotto more. I wouldn't want to see Mayweather face the loser of Fire Power.

Doesn't Bob Arum promote both Cotto and Pacquiao? That's like a low blow for Cotto, his own promoter already counted him out against Pacquiao and is already negotiating for Pacquiao's next mega fight, thats really screwed up man, it's like getting spit on the face!

                Is Miguel Cotto being overlooked?

                By Tony Montgomery
As the Manny Pacquiao Miguel Cotto fight draws near I can’t help but think that Miguel Cotto is being overlooked. The visions of Manny Pacquiao's devastating left hand that dropped Ricky Hatton still lingers in the minds of the fans while the same can be said of the beating Miguel Cotto suffered at the hands of Antonio Margarito. It must be remembered, however, that the devastating left and the brutal beating are both part of the past. Manny Pacquiao is not going to dominate all his opponents in the same fashion and Miguel Cotto will not suffer such a harsh beating every time he enters the ring.

I've been reading many predictions and I'm surprised when I see so many of them picking Pacquiao by early knockout. And I ask on what basis does anyone believe Manny will score such an early knockout? Could it be because Freddie Roach went on record saying first round knockout or could it be because it only took Manny two rounds to stop Hatton?

Let’s not forget Cotto's heart, something I believe is being overlooked by many of the Pacquiao fans. When Cotto fought Antonio Margarito it was not a quick thrashing, it was punishment that built up over rounds until it was too much to bear. Let's also keep in mind that Margarito could potentially have been fighting with loaded hand wraps that would have taken its toll on any fighter. Miguel Cotto also showed the same heart against Joshua Clottey early this year. Cotto suffered a nasty cut above his left eye due to a clash of heads. Rather then take the easy way out, which we’ve seen many fighters do as of late and let the fight go to the scorecards, Cotto kept fighting and showed the heart of a true warrior.

I’ve been labeled a “Pacman hater” because I believe Miguel Cotto will be victorious on November 14th, but I’m not the hater that many of you think I am. I agree that Manny Pacquiao is a special fighter who possesses great power and hand speed, but I also believe this is the perfect time for Miguel Cotto to stage an upset. The speed advantage clearly goes to Pacquiao but don’t sell Cotto short on his punching power. He too possesses the power to stop any opponent in front of him. Along with his relentless body attack and his heart which I already touched on, Miguel Cotto has exactly what it takes to beat Manny.

If you’ve being doing the reading or watching HBO’s 24/7 you’ll also realize that Manny Pacquiao's training camp has not been exactly fantastic thus far. With typhoons in the Philippines that kept him from his daily roadwork, and fighting among his camp members, it would be hard for any fighter not to be distracted. Freddie Roach himself mentioned the distractions that have been going on in training camp. But the biggest red flag that has jumped out at me is Manny Pacquiao himself. He seems less eager to listen to Freddie Roach’s instructions. Boxing fans have seen this happen with fighters when they reach a certain level in their career. All of a sudden they stop listening and start doing what they want to do because they believe they know it all and no longer believe they need the advisement that got them that far.

Too many of you can’t let go of the image of Miguel Cotto in his fight with Antonio Margarito. It’s burned into your memory and because of that you have no doubt in your mind Manny Pacquiao will do the same thing, only much quicker. Right now is the perfect time for Manny Pacquiao to slip up and believe me, Miguel Cotto will be more than ready. He has much to prove and the Pacquiao fight is the perfect time to once again show the boxing world that he belongs on top.

... and the guy (Pacman) who's getting the most flak in here has got nothing to do with these so called talks, he's not even talking past Cotto because he knows Miguel's the toughest sob he'll face so far. He even said it on the video. How sad like a rumor/gossip cum article like this gets these Cotto stans all riled up and hate on the guy.

                    Pathetic...

No, not Texas, no more robberys. Not new York either or philipines or puerto rico. Do it somewhere where it'll be fair for both. Humm... Jacksonville? Or some random state like south dakota. Lol ref should be Kenny B. Again. Best in the game. And the best, fairest judges in the world!
