Pacquiao-Marquez Trilogy is Possible, Says Roach

Even though Juan Manuel Marquez was dominated in his last ring outing with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September, trainer Freddie Roach says a trilogy bout is possible with Manny Pacquiao for March 2010. Pacquiao returns on November 14 against WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto. There is a tentative return date for Pacquiao in March of next year. [details]

The only problem with all this is Roach seems to be looking passed Cotto..

Never a smart move.

But I like that he admits they want the Mayweather fight...and funny how he says he wants to shut up JMM @ 140

That's why I didn't want to see the Mayweather-Marquez fight get made in the first place. Took almost all the luster out of the fight.

This thread would have had more than 3 replies after more than 30 minutes a few months ago.

JMM will still give Pacquiao fits at 135, maybe even at 140.

naw pac 140 and above is a monster for jmm.

jmm had his best run in with pac in the 130's

Ever since Marquez lost horribly from Mayweather, the next excuses from people is Marquez is shot, Marquez got schooled, etc. Eeeeh

Pac is better, but I think he was getting there in their last fight at 130, Marquez just didn't let him and he didn't feel as comfortable trying it either. You don't develop the **** he was doing against Diaz in one fight.

Like Roach said JMM has a great style for southpaws. His stance, timing, crosses, and counter punching would still trouble Manny.

At 135 it'd still be another close fight.

oh i saw the diaz fight prediction a mile away i knew the early rounds belonged to diaz and as the fight goes on jmm's superior skill would dominate and counter diaz to a stoppage.

if u remember that was pacs last fight at that weight class he no longer had the hunger to make weight so he moved up and destroyed everything in his path.

tbh i think he's just setting up a jmm-pac fight for when pac losses to cotto.

if pac losses to cotto , he fights jmm next.

if pac wins against cotto , he doesn't fight jmm.

No, I meant Pac in the David Diaz fight. I meant he couldn't develop that lead right hook and the new arsenal of punches he showed in just one fight.

You could see him trying throwing the lead right hook to knockdown JMM's left hand a couple times. The version of Pac you see now is even better, but you can see that he was almost the same fighter in the last JMM fight.

He knocked JMM down with a counter left in the 3rd and when he buckled JMM in the later rounds, it was a counter punch like the one he hit Hatton with (over and over) but with the left.
