You'd use tons, stone, pounds, and ounces depending on which applied. 141.5 lbs would be 10 stone 1 lb 8 ounces, for instance, but 64.2 kilos.

A different measurement system would be metric, which the rest of the world uses. It's not like they were using stone and grams though.
It's archaic and bothersome for those who never had to deal with this. Why introduce stones to the tally when pounds and ounces will satisfy everyone?
I will not Google any of it. I'll just see who got KTFO and forget your quaint traditions.

Editors- are you listening? There is an American audience that potentially FAR outnumbers your stones and pebbles audience in the UK. You should keep your stones and pebbles, it's very charming; just try to make it easier for your loyal American readers to get through the article without having to bother opening another window and Google something they shouldn't have to.

      1. Who cares if you read AlJazeera in English. My question is whether you read these outlets in a foreign language and convert through Google translate? If so, then I guess it really is okay to congratulate yourself and insult anyone you please.

      2. All news is biased. Just because it isnt US doesnt make it better.

3 You said that, not me. I said write for your readers. Apparently Americans are reading it or else this thread wouldn't exist.

      4. Meh.
