Where the hell is Keith ‘Once Upon A Time’’ Thurman?

Where is he? Last he fought Barrios like 3 years ago and actually didnt show any ring rust then disappeared into the night. Pulled out of fight with Timmy Tzyu then disappeared into the night. Keith One Time aka Keith Once Upon A Time

He was only hanging around for a payday to retire on. His heart for boxing went years ago he just wants to retire to live in a teepee smoking weed.

        - - Ye auld Keefster last fought Feb 2022 at the strapping weight of 1451/4, notching a wide UD over Mario Barrios, currently Boxrec #7.

I tend to thing Manny manhandling Keef ruined not only his reputation, but unblemished record that took all the umph out of his heart and soul. He was 33 then and at least 35 coming up on 36 soon enough, so while time is ticking, could be with a proper warmup he could land a decent purse @154.

He is DONE. I think his best attributes weren’t necessarily his power, but his resiliency to overcome even when the going got tough. His fights with Porter, Garcia, Lopez, and Pacquiao I think accumulated and he just looked for paydays. His injury layoffs really made him lose all momentum. It’s unfortunate cause he is an A+++++ promoter and talker (he legitimately sounds like a WWE heel.

When he was out and about doing podcast interviews in the lead-up to I think Spence/Ugas (?)…I’m not sure, some fight somewhere around there, they would ask him ONE question and he would go off on a tangent and ramble on as much as Hopkins.

To his credit, I don’t think he’s strapped for cash because he’s shown in past footage that he’s always been modest in his spending and lifestyle. However, a lot of people would be surprised here to see how quickly you can blow through $1,000,000 or more give or take in three years or so if it gets out of control. I hope he figures something out but in all honesty he is WAY too inactive. At his rate of activity, he shouldn’t be able to pull out the old “I’ve won my last fight (three years ago) and my only loss came to Pacquiao (SIX years ago).”

Your results alone don’t just translate into a “automatic payday on call” ticket. Certainly not when your last fight was that long ago. If he was still undefeated, people would be busting the door down to get him in the ring again…or then again, maybe not. Jermall Charlo is still undefeated but inactivity, legal issues, and overall mental health rumors have put his momentum deep into the mud. At this point, nobody would care if Jermall called it quits for good. Damn shame…for both of them. Cause I think they left A LOT on the table. I hope they find peace in their futures.

Combination of constant injuries and being inactive by choice. They go hand in hand.

After pulling out of the Tszyu fight he is essentially retired, as no one is going to want to book him for a major fight knowing the likelihood of him pulling out with injury.

And Keith he made it clear he's unwilling to take small fights and build his way back up.

                  So.... he's done.

I agree. If HBO was still airing fights and they pulled up their little graph of current welterweight champions, contenders and stars…Keith’s image would be on there in the corner 50% smaller than the rest of the pictures with the subtitle “merely a potential monkey wrench”.
