Comments Thread For: How old is too old? Mike Tyson and the risk of fighting at 58

IRVING, Texas - Age is just a number, or so they say. It is a saying that is meant as motivation, an exhortation not to curl up and prepare for death the moment you hit 60, an encouragement to be fit and healthy and to continue living the best life you can.

Look, it's obviously quite a high chronological age number, especially for boxing.

But the biological age is the real age, and I'm sure eight two minute rounds, if it goes the distance, is not difficult for Tyson.

Bernard Hopkins was still doing good in his 50's & Saul Mamby did his las fight at 60(he should be the oldest profesional fighter ever, but some other dude at a older age did a pro fight. Even tho that fight the older dude did was obviously staged. It looked faker than a "WWE" show.) So I don't see the big deal in Tyson fighting at 58, and a so called fight lije this obe that looks more like a hyped up exhibition bout.

what if Paul becomes concussed and never comes out of it ? Should we stop allowing wanna be's from fighting inside the ropes ?
