On the eve of traveling to Texas to watch Mike Tyson face Jake Paul, veteran fight scribe Kieran Mulvaney wonders what he - and all of us - are letting ourselves in for.

They wouldn’t give Tyson a licence if he was going to come back & fight Jerry Forrest or Jermaine Franklin. With the much greater funds he can spend on training camp Paul is probably better, at least more dangerous, than those guys. So, why is this being allowed?

Come on man, I understand your point and line of questioning but I don't agree with your examples. Jerry Forrest and Jermaine Franklin would destroy Jake Paul no matter how much he spends on his camp. That said, I think Jake beats Tyson and the whole thing saddens me. Conversely though, I think current day Lennox Lewis or Evander Holyfield would probably still destroy Jake.
Dr Calvin, I’ve given it some thought and you may well be right about Forrest or Franklin but definitely not Lewis who has sensibly stayed out of this ‘senior’s tour’.
There is no sane defence for this , Mike at going on 60 is only a few years off the retirement age for a referee . These people who put these freaks shows together won't be happy until some dies in there ....this is madness!
it might be a lot more interesting if they both took some mushrooms and had a good smoke before the fight that might be of interest hell give everyone envolved mushrooms and refer the ref on refer, the judges on mushrooms the whole paying customers all spaced out and tripping. then sell it.................
