Comments Thread For: Daily Bread Mailbag: Teofimo Lopez, how good is Bakhram Murtazaliev, can Jaron Ennis unify, and the late Salvador Sanchez

In his latest mailbag, the respected coach Stephen "Breadman" Edwards discusses recent comments made by Teofimo Lopez, the emergence of Bakhram Murtazaliev, Jaron "Boots" Ennis's hopes of unifying the welterweight division, the greatness of the late Salvador Sanchez, and more...

Unfortunately this is the world we live in. Hate speech is still free speech, it’s protected. Teo is treading a fine line but he is within his rights. The only way anyone can make him pay without persecution, we boycott his fights and not tune in or someone beats him in the ring. Honestly, I’m a teo boxing fan but not a fan of his character.

Once per week Breadman puts out his boxing mailbag and once per week some low IQ commenter from a blue city writes in trying to sound profound using words (out of context) that they don’t usually use in their everyday lives. This week was Carl from the third world hellhole called NYC. Carl obviously watches too much CNN and just basically copy and pastes catch phrases and buzz words that he hears. Carl, Teo’s comments didn’t get a lot of attention because boxing is a niche sport. If Teo was in the NFL then you already know if would’ve been a big deal. Also, the banana/monkey comments have already been made in the past by James Toney and Muhammad Ali. Hopkins and Devin Haney have also made racial comments without using bananas or monkeys.

Great comments by Breadman about the late, great Salvador Sanchez. He might have lived to become the single best fighter of the ‘80’s, or he might have lost his very next fight to Pedroza. Eusebio was certainly a bad style for him.
As it stands, amongst ‘80’s greats, I can’t rate Salvador higher than Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, Chavez or Spinks. Aaron Pryor’s two wins over Arguello arguably put him ahead of Sanchez as well and, while his decade was obviously inconsistent, Duran’s highs (W15 Leonard, W12 Barkley at age 37) surpass anything Sanchez achieved. Even the super fight victory over Gomez.

Had Joe Calzaghe or Vasyl Lomachenko made similar racist remarks to Hopkins or Haney the mainstream press would have crucified them. Instead, Joe made B-Hop whinge and whine in the ring, and Loma made Haney eternally grateful he was two weight divisions bigger on fight night.

black fighters say racist things about "white boys" or "rice eaters" etc throuout history and nobody in media pushes back about that either. so it's open season. these fighters should say whatever they wanna say. they are FIGHTERS. not role models. and what was that Anthony Joshua said about African blood being superior? if you don't like it, then don't like it. big reason I don't pay attention to guy who Ryan Garcia just beat up is because they said what they said. but oh well, it's fun see these guys take their beatdowns

No one knows what would have happened with the rest of Salvador Sanchez's career. Speculating on possible losses is just guesswork. I speculate he would have gotten even better and never tasted defeat again! What I will say is he's an all time great and the best Featherweight of all time.

So rather than address the comments, the "what about-isms" start, got it. Not to mention the ad hominem attacks on NY, yet "Carl" is the one with the low IQ? lol
