Does Joshua starting late at age 18 explain why he was helpless against Usyk in technical boxing?

We all know that Joshua can punch like hell, but he has openly admitted to there being levels to this game and Usyk is one step above him.

Is the fact that Joshua started late a reason for why he couldn't solve the Usyk puzzle? Or would it have made no difference?

Starting way late in boxing hurts every boxer. AJ is one example, Wilder is another. It's probably easier as a hw since they tend to throw power punches more so than smaller weight classes.

But it could be that Usyk is simply more talented. We don't know that without rewindijg the tape? Maybe it would have made no difference?

Its difficult to answer because just because you started younger doesnt mean you were learning new stuff all the time, or wasnt complacent some of those years. You arent neccesarily productive every year. Or you can be training incorrectly or not smartly.
Some people pick things up faster and if driven to, then you might have something special

Since athleticism isn't a factor in AJs case, I would like to know how it can crop up in other places

Umm, he lost interest. No hunger anymore.

If AJ started earlier it likely wouldnt make a difference, as Usyk is a boxing prodigy almost. Having said that, AJ mightve beat Usyk in a 3rd fight if he didnt get koed by DDD first.
But i mean fury is getting another shot at Usyk. If fury cant beat Usyk, i doubt Josh starting boxing at 12 years of age would make the difference. But as i say, if you get enough goes, Josh might beat Usyk. JMM beat Pac on 4th attempt.

joshua just doesnt have the ability of usyk & starting later just adds to the problem, even if they started at the same time usyk would be better i think

Fury can and will beat Usyk. He was hitting him at will then let his foot of the pedal. It was 4-2 Fury after 6 rounds

If you do something that all 8,186,000,000 people alive are invied to do, that all 8,186,000,000 people have ready access to doing; and that "thing" pays you in excess of $83 million as an enticement to try.......I don't see how coming in number 3 or 4 can be interpreted as having some sort of a deficiency.

Usyk was one of about 3 or 4 men on earth who is capable of beating Joshua under the rules that history claims matter.

Who can say if starting at 12 might have pushed him any higher?
My guess is that he beat out the odds as well as he could.
